Unless you have a lens collimator and other equipment needed to ensure proper alignment when putting the lens back together, take the lens to a reputable camera shop and have a trained professional do it.

If these spots are in different places on each picture, then they are actually reflections of dust particles in the air from the flash being so close to the lens. If they are in the same place on each picture, then they are indeed water spots on the lens.

Spots and smudges

The spots are dust particles in the air reflecting the flash back to the camera because the flash is so close to the lens. This is a problem with all point and shoot cameras...some more than others.

Spots on image

Hi,

The 28-135 zoom lens has at some point had moisture inside it. These spots that you can see are dried water marks.

You have to take the lens apart and clean the lens with a class cloth.

Alternatively you can take the lens to a specialist service center to be professionally cleaned.

Regards.

Dirt inside back lens element

The dirt has gotten onto the front element of the rear lens group. You do not want to try partially disassembling the lens to clean it. Either Tamron or a good camera lens repair technician should be able to perform what is called a partial internal CLA (cleaning, lubrication and adjustment) of just rear portions of the lens for fairly cheap. Alternatively you may be able to pick up a used Tamron 28-200 in excellent condition for less than the repair cost of your current lens. If successful, then you could turn around and sell your 28-200 for parts or sell it to someone who knows how to service it.

Water behind lens of Canon Powershot

If you can see condensation, then please do not switch on the camera.

Let it dry off. You could mildly use a blower(hair dryer) to dry , but not very powerful.

Once the condensation is dried, then if light spot remain and does not interfere in the quality of the photgraphs, it might go away in time. But if it is bothering you. Then you better take it to the nearest Canon service center, who will open and service your camera.

Best of luck.
Let me know if you need any help. Thanks for using FixYa!

No setting can cause white spots on the picture, this is a fault.

By the way you can reset settings on this camera to initial state by simply removing and putting back camera batteries.
Alternatively you should have a reset command on camera settings menu.

My opinion is that this is a fault and not a settings problem.

Typically there are three kind of faults that can cause this problem:

1 - Dirty lens or water inside the lens:
The lens may be dirty inside, for example because of water condensation on internal surfaces, this will cause blurred dots or black dots. The lens must be taken apart and cleaned in this case.

2 - Defective CCD sensor.
The CCD sensor is the chip that detects the picture, if you get well defined white or colored spots on picture that is probably a defective CCD. I think this is the more likely in your case. To fix this the sensor must be replaced.

3 - Defective video chip on internal board.
This can cause any kind of problems, however it is quite unlikely.
It is an expensive repair.

Water spot inside the lens on my Lumix camera

DON'T EVEN TRY TO TAKE THE LENS OFF!!!

To take the lens off, the camera has to be dismantled, and unless you are an experienced technician, there is a 95% chance that the camera will have more problems than what it started with.

Have you taken any pictures with the water spot inside the lens? If it is visible in pictures, then you have several options:

1. Ignore it.

2. Leave it there and use an image editor to clone out the spot in the picture. (Recommended).

3. Take the camera to a repair shop, or mail it to Panasonic's service center. This is the expensive option, to remove the water spot, the price most likely will be well over $100.

4. Buy another camera. The FZ7 is rated to about 50,000 shots, so if you are approaching this number they it may well be worth it to just get another camera.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Unless the spot is seriously affecting your pictures, then leave it there. By having the camera opened there is a high chance that other problems will be introduced, such as: fingerprints, dust or hairs inside the lens or misaligned lens elements.

My FZ7's lens is full of dust, yet this is not usually visible in pictures, when it is, I can usually remove it on the computer.

I would recommend taking the camera to a service center as a last resort.
