Question about Western Digital My Book Premium ES Edition WDG1SU5000 500 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive
My Western Digital My Book External Hard Drive 400 GB Premium Edition Dual Interface model # WD4000D032 is no longer being recognized or appearing on my MacBook Pro. My Op system is 10.5.6. I have used this drive before and have data stored on it.
The drive came with backup software that I no longer need. I attempted to download upgraded software from WD, but it only contained the back up software.
The blue light is on, but is no longer moving. The light did show movement earlier today.
Just before sending this email, the drive did appear on the desktop. When I clicked on it, it showed 45 GB available and after waiting nearly an hour, none of the files ever appeared and the drive is now no longer visable even though the blue light still shows movement.
Have you checked you usb connection? try unplugging it then plugging it back in see if computer recognises it then if not chances are your drive has failed
