Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

I have a Legend L1928 LCD tv, we plugged it into cable, did the channel scan, when it said 100% we tried to change the channel and it goes to 1-1 on a blue screen, then black screen, makes a slight pop sound through the speakers and does it all over again, about a 5 second loop for this. Won't let you do anything with remote or on board controls and have to shut it off by unplugging it.

Is there any reset or anything I as a user can do? Can I check the lamp? it does show blue screen so think the lamp works and its LCD just to make sure that was known.

Does the sound remain normal during this except for the pop sound?

No, there is no sound other then the pop, which is like it is changing from one input to another, not to loud, but no other sound at all.

Looks like time for a new Main audio/video board? There is a small processor kind of thing on this board that is called EEPROM. It controls literally every thing related to video and audio(apart from timing control) not to mention the functions as well. Seems like it is fried and that seems to be the source of the problem. Unfortunately it is embedded into the board and is assembled by robots. Hence replacement is impossible. The only way to fix would be to replace the entire board.

With this being a tv for my travel trailer, and actually pretty small, sounds like it may be better to get a new tv for the price of fixing this one?

Yes that sounds like a good idea. More so coz the prices have come down drastically!

Hello,

There is likely two(2) sources to the problem you are having with this television. 1) is the lamp and 20 is the t-con board.

Have a repairman run a check on the t-con board and the lamp to detect the faulty component and replace it.

Once you have them checked and replaced, the television would be in good condition again.

Take care

Sure, i know its an lcd tv, you can check the t-con board of the tv, to see that if it is working perfectly.

As an expert i will strongly recommend you have a repairman check this as it is quite sensitive and needs a careful and thorough check.

I hope you understand and fond this assistance helpful.

    Take care

So with this being a smaller tv and used in my travel trailer, cost wise am I better to just get a newer tv instead of fixing this? I imagine the boards and the labor are not cheap?

    Hello,

Sorry i replied to your post late.

You are right it is quite uneasy fixing the television.

A replacement will do just fine.

But having it fixed by a repairman can also do the job.

    Take care

Channel scan only finds 1 channel with basic cable setup on LG 42LD520

if you have a cable box just plug the cable box into a scart socket on the tv, switch the tv to the scart input and use the cable remote to change channel?Scanning for channels wont find anything because you are receiving the channels on a cable box. If you are refering to standard or digital tv signals and your not receiving any channels then either you are only scanning analogue tv and therefore wont pick up any digital tv channels, or your ariel is inadequate to receive an acceptable digital reception and will need to be upgraded. please state country you are in and what you are expecting to receive

I can only able to see 65 channels in my new samsung t.v[LCD]but in my calbe there are more tahn 70 channels....how can i see the all channels

When you scan for channels, make sure you choose "cable" for the setting under the "Antenna" tab.

channel --> antenna --> choose cable

This should let your TV show more channels. Most cable companies issue cable boxes now a days, which you plug into your TV. You usually change the channel by using the remote for the cable box.

Hope this helps

YOU HAVE A BAD TUNER OR RF INPUT. IF YOU CONNECT THE CABLE TO THE VCR AND THEN USE THE VIDEO OUTPUT OF THE VCR TO THE VIDEO INPUT OF THE TV YOU CAN USE THE TUNER IN THE VCR TO CHANGE CHANNELS.

If you unplug the unit from wall plug for ten minutes, it should reset the picture. I would unplug the a/v cables also in case of a ground loop
