SOURCE: how do I drop the feed dog on a singer sewing

They do not drop.

The accessories with this model include a darning plate, which is a plastic shield that snaps over the feed dogs.

If you cannot find the darning plate, poke a hole for the needle in the center of an index card and tape it over the feed dogs with blue painter's tape (does not leave a residue) and set the stitch length to zero.

Be sure to use a darning foot and lower the presser foot.

SOURCE: feed dogs

Finally got my case apart. Had to remove all screws and apply pressure to inner plastic tabs that lock the case in place at several points. By plug area, at corners, etc.
There is a pin that rests beneath a plastic screw going through a bolt behind feed dogs. This pin then rests in divot on a white plastic piece (about 1.5" - 2" wide) above the lever to raise n lower the feed dogs. This piece is only visible after removing the case. The pin had slipped out of its little divot. I pushed it back into place and feed dogs now raise.
Used to get '88' error when trying to wind bobbin. Hope it fixed that, too. Won't know till I get it all back together. ;)

SOURCE: Raising and Lowering the feed dog on Janome 4900 MC

These machines are known to have this problem. The feed lift cam has a groove worn in it that won't allow the feed dogs to come back up. It is on the lower shaft and needs to be replaced. You can get the feed dogs back up by taking off the needle plate and lifting them up manually while turning the hand wheel. They should stay up until you drop them again.
Some people will not replace the cam and live with it.
good luck!

SOURCE: How to Drop Feed Dogs on Sewing Machine...

On many machines you tilt the machine back on its hinges to see the underside and there you will find a thumbscrew to lower the feed dogs...you also need to be sure that your machine is capable of having its feed dogs lowered...not all machines can do this!

Sounds like your feed dogs are in the down position. Make sure they are in position "A" (see picture)

Also, make sure your length dial is set to a medium setting (Usually 1.5 - 3)

How do I raise and lower the feed dogs on a singer 8606 sewing machine, there is no visible controls to do so Regards Charlie

Your machine doesn't appear to have this capability. There is an accessory that snaps in place to cover the feed dogs. A lot of sewing machines have this option because it involves less mechanical design and expense.

6235 singer ! How do I raise feed dogs ???

According to the manual, there is an accessory that covers the feed dogs. (Shown as an accessory on page 4.) So the feed dogs should not raise or lower other then during normal sewing action of moving the fabric.

Feeddog singer stylist 776 how would the feeddog gt lowered

Consult the owner's manual. There should be instructions for how to darn with your machine. It would require either the feature that lowers/raises the feed dogs or a cover plate that attaches over the feed dogs.

If your machine came with the cover plate accessory, and the feed dogs are not rising to feed the fabric, then I suspect the machine has not been cleaned & oiled in quite some time and perhaps the feed dogs have seized. When you run the machine (remove the needle and presser foot), watch if the feed dogs actually drop below the needle plate, move toward the front of the machine, then rise above the needle plate and move toward the back of the machine. This is a repetitive motion that actually pulls the fabric through the machine. If this is not happening with your machine, it needs service.

Cant find anywhere that tells me if i can drop feed dogs on my singer simple 3223

Could be your machine is one that the feed dogs do not drop. Instead, there is plate somewhere in the accessories that fastens over the feed dogs.

3223 SIMPLE Singer Sewing

Since your machine has a "darning plate," that is a good indication the feed dogs do not drop.

I don't know this machine but in most machines the feed dogs are normally lowered from a switch beside the bobbin case behind the door of the bobbin case.

How do I get the feed dog up on model 6235

The feed dog for that machine is NOT designed to be raised or lowered; instead a cover is put over the needle plate. You might want to remove the needle plate--it's designed to be removed to access the bobbin case--and see if you can pop it up again. On models that DO have the ability to raise and lower their feed dogs, once it has been lowered, if you press the dial or lever to raise it, it won't raise until the hand wheel is turned one or two times.

How do I lower feed dogs to do quilting

Open your bobbin door and next to it is your feed dog control, to raise and lower. Don't you have a manual? You can get one at www.singerco.com for free under customer support, and download it.

How do I raise and lower the feed dog on my singer 8280??

On your Singer, you don't actually raise / lower the feed dog. Instead you attach a "darning plate" (which should have come with the machine) which covers the feed dogs so they do not come in contact with the fabric.
