If you can not,do this, take a piece of 3/16 tubing, and cut it to fit over the pilot light, and make sure the tubing is cut long enough to extend into the flame of the pilot light, this will save you money, and time, most of the time the problem with the pilot light is,that it burns away over time, and does not stay into the flame .If this was helpful, please rate, thank you.

Vulcan CX Gas Furnace Model 902 outside installation. Pilot light extinguishes randomly. Lights again manually ok but flame seems weak. Its a natural gas system.

you can remove the pilot assembly and blow air thru it and then run a small piece of wire thru it
At the same time wipe the thermocouple end that you took out real good up and down on your jeans .That end has lead on it and that can become corroded so it does not get a good signal
clean the other end with a real fine sandpaper or a new not wet brillo pad

Pilot lights but won't stay on in my older style vulcan space heater. thermo couple was replaced last year.any ideas that i could try thanks

Most common cause of pilot light problems is air movement. If your space heater exhausts gas through the roof, ensure the cap is on and level. If not, outside air movement will blow out the pilot. If you do not have an exhaust gas duct, check that the unit is positioned so that it does not blow air back onto itself from walls, furniture, etc, and ensure no other devices that move air are aimed towards the unit. The unit also needs to be placed away from central ducting, including return vents.

Hope this helps!

Can't seem to ignite pilot on a 30 year old vulcan heater. Same problem every year as winter is approaching :) Usually works fine once pilot is on though.

Hello,
It's probably just a dirty pilot orifice (or a spider web), if it's been off since last winter. Try using a can of compressed air with attached straw (like you use to clean computer keyboards) and blow out the dust from the pilot orifice in the pilot assembly, which is where you light it. That should do the trick. Good luck! Douglas

After igniting pilot and allowing gas to continue for 30seconds when i release and turn knob to on position - the pilot goes out - model vulcan cx 130 - 90

sounds like you need a new thermocouple. Its the sensor that sits in the pilot flame and has a copper tube going back to the gas valve. All you need to know to get one is its length. They are cheap and usually found in hardware stores, It sends a signal to the gas valve, telling it that there is a flame once it gets hot.

The control panel gets its power from the central heating unit's power point. Try turning the power off outside at the powerpoint next to the ducted heating unit and try turning it on again after a few seconds, see if it resets

sounds like the thermocouple (that sensors the heat) may be faulty.
you will need a licensed gas fitter for repairs
