Question about Computers & Internet
I guess your printer is not a network printer, meaning it is not automatically connected to your router if you have or it is using a dedicated internet connection thru your internet provider in which I believe you have. You may install a USB adapter in which this adapter will be connected directly to your modem or your router. And then this USB adapter has its port dedicated to printer. One end of the port is connected to the printer and the other to the adapter itself. You may install this once you connect this adapter thru one of the USB ports. Otherwise, if you only have one cable connected from your computer to the printer, then you may check the device manager by clicking Start > right click Computer > left click Properties . Then click Hardware and then click Device Manager. Check if there is Printer devices installed such as USB adapter or any other drivers in particular.
The important thing here is that printer cable should be detected, you may reinsert the cable after you turn off the printer. If you have another printer cable, try to test if it works. Otherwise this might be a compatibility issue with the printer and the pc. That is time to refer to your printer manufacturer.
Again, these steps are the suggested ones, you may consult a technician if symptom persist..
