Bonnin, Can you see a faint image on the screen? Have you tried to hookup an external monitor?
IF you can see a faint image on the screen, and a normal image on the external monitor, you have a bad power inverter (for the lcd screen) or a bad back light (in the lcd screen).
Take laptop to a shop to have them verify.
Hope this helps.
Hi,
Right clic on your screen
Then select the proper Display (Mobile PC Display)
Select the proper Resolution (Usally Recommended by Windows
Select the orientation (Should be Landscape)
And reboot if necessary
Look at the LCD screen very closely and check if you can see a faint image on the screen. It's possible that the LCD lid close switch stuck in the "closed" position and the back-light stays off even when you open the LCD screen or turn on the laptop. The switch turns off the back-light when you close the LCD display to save the laptop battery power.
If that didn't fix it then there are 3 things that could have gone wrong:
1. Video cable connection from inverter to LCD got loose. To check this, follow instructions from step 3 on how to open the LCD and check if cable is fitted properly.
2. The video inverter is faulty The screen inverter failure is very similar to the back-light lamp failure. In both cases the screen gets very dark and the image on the screen becomes very faint, barely visible under a bright light. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. You can replace this otherwise - you can find the inverter under the screen, follow the procedure described at point 3 to open up the screen.
3. The LCD monitor is faulty If it works on an external monitor most likely the LCD is faulty and needs replacement. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. If not, you can do it yourself, it's pretty easy. Remove the rubber covers on the side of the screen, unscrew the screws take the plastic cover off, disconnect the video inverter and put in the new LCD after you connect the video inverter to it.
If camera shows Menu item or any on-screen display in LCD but no live view to take picture then it can be either aperture problem or defective ccd imager. And if you do not see any display icon in LCD then of course LCD section is bad or LCD back light is Off for some reason. Try to see faint image in LCD if it is totally blank by pointing good amount of light with flash light or some thing.
The camera displays an inverted image on the LCD camera screen or when you view the image on windows vista? If it is Vista what program are you using to view the image? If it is the camera check the settings on the camera for the special effects settings and see if the image inversion setting is on. Ther could also be a problem with the LCD display on the camera.
Hi Sunmoon,
Do you hear any boot up noises from the laptop?
Does it appear to be working as normal, but without a picture - sometimes you may know this because you hear the XP / Vista logon sound.
It could be a backlight or inverter problem.
If you look side on to the screen you might see a faint image.
