Look for a little hole on the reverse, push a pin or paperclip in for 30 seconds or so.

On the older linksys routers there is a small reset button in the back of the router use an ink pen and hold it in for 30 seconds the light should blink off and back on but continue to hold for the full 30 seconds

Forget user name and password how to set up new ones

You may have to resent the router for that purpose! User name and password are usually default for each router. If you have not set up a user name or password try default admin in password section and leave user name blank. If you have set up a user name and password and forgot now then you may have to reset the router by pressing reset button on back of router for 30 to 60 seconds which brings back factory default settings for the router!

Router name was reset without my asking. i need to set it back.

how was the name reset and by who??????
if you mean you have to reset your router to the factory default settings
(note all settings will be lost you will need to reconfigure the router)
you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings or if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings

Need password to my netgear router n 300

what is the model #?
Most netgear routers default to a username of "admin" and password is either " admin ", "password" or it is just blank. Those are the defaults unless someone changed it.
If you cant get in you can hold down the reset button on the back for 30 seconds (while it is plugged into power) and that will set it back to factory default settings then one of the above should work.
If this was a help please give me 4 thumbs up as I am trying to build up my rep on this site!

How to reset the default user name and password?

if you've forgotten it, you can reset the default settings of the router. At the back of the router, you'll find a push button usually labeled Reset which you can push for about 15 to 20 seconds to get the router back to its default configuration. then you can set it up again and set your password if needed. the default password is normally password

How do you set password?

By default you access a linksys router through its web browser at this link:

http://192.168.1.1

The router's default user name is admin
The default password is admin

If the default settings have been changed, then the access link and/or password might be different.

If you need to get into the settings to change the password as requested, you will have to know the password used or reset the router back to factory defaults to regain access.

If you decide to reset the router, this is done by using a pen or paperclip and pressing in the rest button located on the back edge (near the power plug) and holding it in for up to 60 seconds. Be fore-warned, that resetting your router WILL WIPE ALL SETTINGS and you will likely lose internet access until the settings are restored as required by your Internet Service Provider.

Router settings are changed itself...for example i define my own network settings with encryption key... but after some time the settings revert back to factory settings itself...naming itself as default...

When you are in the configuration page of the router (where you can change the settings) are you changing the username and password? The one where a sign in window pops up before you can access the web page. Because if these aren't changed then anyone who knows the default settings can access your router and set it back to default so they can use your bandwidth.

Not saying this is happening but I have seen it many times.

Perhaps try a firmware update (if there is one). Just remember that when you do an update your router settings go back to default.

Hope this helps.

I can not remember the password to get in my router

Linksys reset
The easiest method of resetting your Linksys router’s password is to reset your router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models).

Router password trouble

you may try resetting the router settings by pressing the reset button of the router at the back of the router, there is a hole at the back of the router, you need to have a paper clip or any ball point pen to press the reset button of the router. The catch in here is all the settings of the router will set back to factory default so if you will be resetting the router allo the settings you have configured and set on the router will be set back to the default settings so you might alos loose your Internet connection.

Default settings on the router's log in - nothing for username and password is admin. Username as in blank and don't put anything into it.

My linksys router asking me for my password..and I think i forgot..please help....thanks

Not much you can do here but find the little reset button on the router, hold for 10 or 20 seconds, and reset back to factory defaults. This will put the default login information back into the router. Hope this helps.
