Was it working when you bought it? Or did you test it before you brought it to your place? If so, first uninstall the drivers and re-install it after restarting your computer. Install the printer's software first (if it comes with a cd package) and connect the printer only when you are asked. Make sure you are using a good/working usb cable. (if there's only the driver with no additional software for your printer, then first connect the printer and follow the onscreen inscreen instructions to install, let me know if you can't do this.)

If this doesn't solve your problem, let me know withe the Operating system installed on your computer and system configuration. I'll help you fix this.

Good luck.

    Hi,

Yes it was working before I connected it to my pc(I can still make b&w & color copies). Even though it was used. I figured because it was the same make & model as the one that broke(scanner glass broke on the old one, but it still recognized it when it was connected (it still coud communicate with it). All I had to do was just connect it with the usb & power cords & it would work. Simple! Why not?

So I did what you said again & it still dosen't communicate with my pc. Hope you can look at all the things I tried & responded to alresdy I spent over a total of 12+ hours trying to get this to work.

    Thanks

I am sorry for the delay. If there's no problem powering it on, replace the usb cable and connect it on another port. Keep trying and don't connect any usb device on the system. If no positive outcome, please try it on another system and let me know the outcome.

    Awaiting.

    Sorry, no good. Doesn't work.

I am sorry to hear that. Thanks that you've taken the trouble to test and made attempts upto that point. Now I can assure that, there must be problem with the printer's usb port or printer's usb module (who knows, this could have happened recently). You have two options, first replace the usb port, (you'll need a set of screwdrivers, a new usb port and soldering materials to do this) and check whether this helps or not. If this doesn't either help, your final destination is the Service Center where they will test the usb module (usb controller IC), I don't think there's replacement available for this and I have never done this before since we can never able to obtain a new module. Anyway, once they check it, they'll confirm you whether it can be repaired or it can't be repaired.

I can only wish you good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi,

What is your operating system?
Did you test its copy function on the printer itself to see it works or not?

- If it is Windows, complete windows updates such as .net framework and Java software.

- Disconnect your printer.
- Then download and run this patch/upgrade file from this link. When it prompts you to restart the PC do it.

- Download and install the compatible printer drivers for your operating system ( XP, Vista 64-bit, Vista 32-bit, others)

When prompted to connect your printer connect and power on.

Hope this helps.

  • schlegelc Jul 16, 2010

sorry it took so long but my os is xp2000. Yes I'm able to make copies (color & b&w). I down load the following from your list net.framework, java, disconnected printer, patch/thislink. inslalled everything even in the zip files.Thought I had it when it asked me to print a test page alignment, but came up no communication with computer; check firewall settings. I just drew a blank. I've been doing this fora little over 8+ hours. & its getting more & more frustrating.

  • schlegelc Jul 16, 2010

    any other suggestions?

    Hi again,

You didn't mention about the error message related to firewall in your question. So check the followings.

If you have antivirus programs working on your PC it may cause this problem. If you have MacAfee, allow the Windows file sharing in the MacAfee setup if it is not done.

You can disable all antivirus and security software then test your printer.

Try to disable windows firewall and then test your printer. If it works then you need to setup the firewall.

    Waiting your comments.

    Hi again,

You may check in the Printer's Properties to ensure the port is correct. It should be "Dell USB" or "USB Virtual Port" etc. something similar.

Does it print a Test Page from the Print Properties?

  • Ibrahim OKTAY
    Ibrahim OKTAY Jul 16, 2010

If it doesn't print test pages, unplug the power cable from the back of the printer, push and hold the power button on the printer for about 15 seconds to clear the internal memory, then plug it back in and try to print test page.

  • schlegelc Jul 18, 2010

    Hi,

    Hi again,

First try another port of your PC.

Can you connect and install another printer to your PC and test it to see that your PC (USB port and operating system) has no problem. If it works then we can say that your second hand printer or its port or its cable has problem.

Not at the current time. Dell only have a Vista 32bit, Win XP and Win 2000 driver available. As there is no specific Win 7 driver the advice is to use the Vista 32bit driver until and if one is released.

You can download the latest VISAT 32 bit drivers from DELL at the following link

I recently got a new Dell computer and kept my Dell AIO 922 printer, but now the icon is lost, I cannot scan. However, I can print, but that is about it.

Do you still have the Dell AIO 922 Drivers and Utilities CD? If so, you can reinstall it on your new Dell PC with the Drivers and Utilities CD. Although you are able to see this printer in your list, the other components are missing such as the scan and fax options. If you have already reinstalled it using the CD, you should see the All In One Center under the Start Menu/ All Programs/Dell Printers/Dell AIO Printer 922 and the All In One Center should be showing there. You can right click on the All in One Center and select "send to" and choose desktop to create a shortcut or icon on your desktop. Your options for scanning and faxing should be showing here. Hope that helps!

Aio 922 power light constantly blinks on and off, will not turn on/off or communicate with computer.

Try to unplug the power cable as well as the USB cable of your printer for few minutes. Then plug it back in, check the lights again.
