I am getting the same reading "format unsupported". I bought my system 2 years ago and it does not matter which disc I put in. I get the same reading for all discs. It plays music cd's fine but not dvd movies.

Could this be caused by playing too many pirated DVDs?

Unsupported format read cd dvd when it read if before?

Sometimes cleaning the disk will solve the problem. Also resetting the system by pulling the power cord and putting it back in can solve the problem. If this does not help, then sometimes updating the system with the latest software can help. Just call Bose and ask for an update disk. Last but not least if nothing works, send the unit to Bose for repair.

Unsupported format

I have the same problem. When I put in a dvd it tries to read it and then comes back unupported format. What does this mean and why won't it read the dvd?

The Bose 321 II system I bought last December in Michigan City, Indiana, is still quirky. Sometimes it plays fine, and other times it says that the format is "unsupported." This happens with both MP3 discs...

You may have dust or dirt on your laser read head. Try cleaning the unit with an approved cd cleaner. If this does not correct the problem I would take it in for repair before you warranty expires.

Good Luck

Error trying to play a DVD on the Bose 3-2-1- Lifestyle system.

Unplug the power cord leave the DVD inside the Bose 321 system. Then plug the power cord back in. Voilla your DVD starts playing.

Format unsupported

Format unsupported simply means the unit can not read the disc. The problem is either the disc or the player.

Contact Bose technical support if you are sure the discs are good. 800-367-4008

So funny mine just started doing the same exact thing. I put a DVD in and it says format unsupported. Then I turn it off take the disc out and try it again. Seems to always work the second time around
