Question about SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro SDCZ62048A10 Hard Drive

1 Answer

My ScanDisk was working fine in a 7 port hub earlier today. I removed it because I thought I would need to use it on another computer and then realized I wouldn't need to. So then I put it back into the same port as before and noticed it didn't light up and I couldn't find the drive on my computer. I then tried several other ports both on the hub, my computer and a 2nd computer and it just appears it's dead. I also noticed that when I took it out the 1st time and when I reinserted it, it felt very warm to the touch. Please help, I have a lot of valuable (to me) info on this drive and I need it right away. Thanks, Kris

Sounds like it is dead sorry to say flash drives are really not a very reliable backup source should always copy to DVD also. Another thing in future you should always use the safely remove hardware option in the bottom right taskbar to remove power from any device before you unplug it. Just bought an Ativa 7 port USB 2.0 Hub and don't know how to connect it to my computer. No manual came with it.

The ones that I have seen have 7 ports 5 in back 2 on top these are called Type A USB ports, to the left of the back ports the power port is there. To the right, there is a smaller port usually a USB Mini B or Micro A port that is where the small end plugs into and the Type A on the cable goes to your computer.

I do know that sometimes a usb port will fail, for whatever reason, to recognize a device. It's happened to me before, and you can try a couple things. First, unplug and plug the usb port back in while it's connected to the camera. If the computer fails to recognize it, try you different usb ports, and the computer may respond. Aside from that, if you're running the XP or later versions of windows, you might try restoring your computer to a time before this problem occurred. Also, an update to Windows could have adversely caused this to happen, and restoring to an earlier date would hopefully reset the usb software's ability to recognize the port. Perhaps someone else will have suggestions if none of these things work, but that's the limit of my dealings with this problem. There's always the possibility that a hardware issue is at work here, but I hope not. If you do discover the port is bad, you can always get a hub and deal with it that way, leaving it connected to a known, good usb port. Just make sure you get a hub that is aided by a power source to relieve the computer from the burdon of powering up the hub. Good luck.

Overheating

We had a GE 7 port usb port and it overheated and melted----thank goodness I got up when I did or the house would have caught on fire. The only thing we had connected to the usb port was a APC battery backup unit. Any reason why the usb port overheated?
It was pugged into the battery backup unit and I am hesitant to rehook the computer up to the battery backup unit and also will not by another GE usb hub again and whatever hub we do use, I will not plug it into an outlet!
the computer was downstairs and I noticed the odor of electrical burning smell upstairs---the unit was bought nov 25, 2007 and we returned it to BJ'S for a refund today-----I do not reccomend this product to anyone.

Problem with SXP2224WM compex switch.

If I remember correctly, this device has vlan. Did you check to make sure that the vlan is configured or turned off? And does this have a firewall? Seems like a firewall is blocking ping port but allowing traffic. Also, I thought the 24WM was a 24 port switch, you mentioned a hub, but what kind of hub is it? It really sounds like a port blocking issue.
