SOURCE: my beckett oil burner

Hello
Depends on the temp your trying to keep in the house.Possible heat is running more then usual due to cold weather?

But to answer your question no the nozzle is made for the model of your burner so its almost im possible to install the wrong one.

What is possible is the air mixing with the fuel may not be set correctly, kind of like a carburetor running to rich or too much fuel not enough air.

There should be a sliding flap on the burner you can move open and close to adjust air/fuel mix.
Not recommended with out proper gu ages .MAy want to have then come back out to readjust.

How do you reset the type control/restart an older Beckett burner after oil ran out? Oil has been added and the lines bled. However the burner will not stay on after hitting reset

First, mop up the unspent oil in the combustion chamber from any previous relight tries. Now, make sure the cad cell lense is clear. Did you change your oil filter and nozzle? These become easily clogged by the sludge at the bottom of your tank when you run out of oil.

Do you see oil or water? If oil then the pump seal is broken and you need oil Tec to change the pump.

I think the fuel pump on my beckett burner is clogged is there a way to clean it. Ive replaced the filters and get fuel to the burner but get no fuel up to the line feeding the nozzle

As you face the burner, mounted in the unit, the oil line feed in on the left side. There is a cap, held on by 4 7/16" bolts. Inder the cap, there is a screen. You would be best to get a screen kit, available from the same place you get your nozzle, as it will come with a new gasket.

Shut off the oil. Remove the four bolts, pull the old screen, clean the housing (I use rags and WD40) and re-asssemble. If is is really bad, you should remove the nozzle assembley and flush the oil line to the nozzle, as well.

THe oil filter, screen and nozzle should be replaced at least once a year.

Dripping fuel from the bottom of the burner its a af15 beckett oil burner

Hi,
No, you should call a person that can service oil burners. Either the nozzle is bad and oil is dripping into the burner tube and running down or the nozzle is loose and the oil is running out from the threads of the nozzle. Either way the nozzle should be changed and the burner retuned with a combustion analyser..

Beckett burner; I notice small particles of soot under stack vent

The soot can be caused by a number of reasons, if it was recently cleaned, I would wonder if the service tech just left a little mess behind. If you are reasonablely sure that is not the case, one cause could be a faulty pump. Inside the fuel pump is a pressure regulating valve, that is responisible for pump pressure and cut off. If the valve is failing, and not giving proper cut off, then a small amount of oil will drip into the chamber (called "after drip") and upon start up this oil burns incompletely causing a soot build up. A delay valve often masks the problem by providing the positive shut off electronically. Another problem/cause could be impoper adj. of the burner during the tune-up. On a final note, with equipment that old, it would be a good idea to start looking into a newer, more efficient system.
