Question about Vizio P2 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
I noticed you posted a response to my problem on fixya. We have two bars side by side on the left side of the screen. They're each about 1" and about 2" in from the left. Originally just a green bar appeared and would disappear for periods of time. Then the red appeared and it also disappears from time to time. We contacted vizio and they attempted to help in emails. They recommend either the TCP connector or the XRBT board. I have no idea what either are. The tv is only about 2.5 years old. Does their solution sound right? And is it worth fixing? Thanks a bunch
We have the same problem on our 42" Vizio plasma screen. I've had many conversations with the tech at Vizio, and they said it's an inherent problem with the screen (whatever that means) that can't be fixed, or is not worth fixing (as another comment says).
But...when a cable guy came to install a new dish, I told him about it, and he said he's seen it before on other plasmas, and that it may be caused by the sound speakers being placed either too near or in the wrong position near the tv.
He said there are magnets in the speakers that will throw off something in the screen.
We have a Bose sound system, and so we tried repositioning the speakers and subwoofer. The line did go away, but then came back. It comes and goes.
Who can figure this out? Well, for what it's worth, try repositioning your sound speakers.

I BELIEVE THE TCP CONNECTOR WILL BE THE RIBBON CABLE ATTACHED TO THE XRBT BOARD AND IM PRETTY SURE THEY ARE NOT REPLACEABLE (IF IM THINKING CORRECTLY. THE XRBT BOARD WILL BE THE THIN BOARD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PANEL THERE WILL PROBOBLY BE 2-4 OF THEM THEY HANDLE THE VIRTICLE PIC. SO GO FOR THE BOARD DIRECTLY UNDER THE LINES. IT SHOULD BE PRETTY CHEAP UNDER $50.
