Both of the above are right
Have a sharp chain and good quality lube. Even then hard dry wood will cause bar to get hot
The only way to stop this is to run more oil

If the chain is oriented as the lower portion of the photo it is dull.

Chain sharpening is an art, if not correct it will not cut straight. I suggest you consider having it done professionally ($10± for 20" chain).

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.

Our Napoleon wood stove gets a gooey liquid that seems to come from nowhere and lays on top of the ashes. What would this be?

First what type of wood are you burning because some woods have less density than others . Then some woods holders moisture . Now this sounds like something called fat lighter this is a kind of sap which can ignite there for making it a breeze to start a fire . Some woods can be toxic so be carful . Pine is fast burning , where your oak and manzanita much slower burning. Stay Safe

Mt999 chainsaw. Brand new. Not cutting through wood although blade rotating. Just seems to be burning wood.

If it's all brand new, then sounds like you have the chain on backwards. The angled parts of the cutters should face forward while on the top of the bar.

In my dealings with electric chainsaws if you try to cut wood too big in diameter the electric motor burns out and you will net to replace the saw

Does uncovered firewood stored outside go bad?

Sounds like someone cut down some trees and stacked them in your yard. Most likely, it is good firewood. Actually, covered wood rots faster than air exposed wood because of lack of venting or direct exposure to the sun which dries up exposed wood. Covered wood stays wet longer which accelerates rotting. Thick round logs are hard to burn because they are not split. If you feel up to it, you can split them and burn them in your fireplace. Good healthy exercise!. If not, then Crags list would be my choice also.

Insufficent chain oil to the bar, check there is oil in the oil tank, remove the bar and clean out the delivery hole in the bar.

I have a efco 165 chainsaw and for no reason i will be cutting good clean wood and it will just go dull. there's no cut marks inside like it hit metal. it has been doing it since it was new.

It seems like they supplied the machine with an inferior standard chain, replace the chain with a good brand and see if that solves the problem. (Chain saws are not too fond of cutting dry wood, they do far better in wet, green wood).

My bosch ake 35s isn't cutting, what's wrong with it? chain turning as normal

Chain has dulled. Needs sharpening.

Hitting one little imbedded rock in the wood and the chain can be dulled to the point it only burns the wood.

Replace the chain or have it sharpened.

Not cutting correctly - burning the branches

This is normally a sign of blunt chain, chain on the wrong way around or cutting wood that is too sappy or moist. Sorry if you are a regular/trained user and this seems patronising but it is the first things I would be checking if that was a fault on a cahinsaw in my workshop.

My electric chain saw makita 5014 is not cutting seems to burn the wood. Can it need sharpening or a new chain. I am a mere woman and don't know too much.:o)

A dull chain can cause this so can installing it backwards. Find a local chainsaw seller/mechanic about 5 - 10$ to sharpen. Ask for their help to relinstall it. Stihl is the best dealer in my area.
fa94627.gif I have many chains when one dulls easy to swap in sharp one, no emergency to sharpen the dull one. HTH
