Question about Garmin nuvi 1300 Car GPS Receiver

1 Answer

My Nuvi350 goes dead and has no battery power when I remove it from the cradle/bracket. I've had it for a few years. Is there an internal battery that should be changed?

Yes there is an internal battery and it is the problem, the battery is "hardwired" into the GPS and it must go back to Garmin or an approved GPS repair station, to replace the battery takes special tools and the battery must be soldered back into the unit, any attempt to remove the batt without the spec tools results in a damaged and unusable GPS

What is the mc9090 internal battery

Leave the 9090 overnight in a charge cradle and check status of backup cell in control panel>power. If the is still dead after a full night of charge then it will need to be replaced.

I've concted the cradle with the wrong transformer and the unit does not turn on, I may have burn it, please help!!!!!

Ouch, it is highly likely that you have overpowered the gps and it will need some internal repairs. If the item is less than 1 year old Garmin may fix it for you at no charge. If it is over 1 year old you can call them at 1-800-800-1020 .. It would probably be a good idea not to tell them that you may have caused the problem. We would not want you to void your warranty. Sorry for the bad news and please dont forget to rate me. Have a nice night.

I have a Magellan 315 gps that is appoximately 10 yrs. old. Does it have an internal battery that needs to be replaced?

Not a fix, shared information.

Yes these units have an internal ten year lithium battery. I am currently researching this issue, as I have two dead and one working 300series GPSs. When the internal battery dies and the regular batteries are removed or die the unit will loose all user data (way points and routes), as well as the satellite map and initialization. After dieing the unit will appear to function normally but fail to lock on, track or get a fix. Only showing the coordinates from the initialization. These units also have an internal capacitor that provides sufficient power to hold the memory during quick battery changes, but not over night. I have as yet found a working solution, but only researching this for a few days.

Acer won't boot up

Hi,
when any computer posts/boots up.
it goes through a sequence of initialising things before booting.
i,ve been repairing computers for around 12-15 years.
1st i,d try removing the ram ( memory ) usually underneath the laptop, behind a screw cover. Or ocassionally under the keyboard.
if 2 sticks of ram are installed, remove the battery. and 1 stick of Ram. put battery on and try to boot. if no joy with that try the other stick of ram. and replace battery-Re-boot.
If this works you have 1 stick of faulty ram or faulty ram slot on motherboard. Failing this. I suspect that the CPU has overheated, and therefore a replacement Processor should solve the problem.

Thankyou for using fixya.

Garmin zumo switch on problem

Use the allen wrench to remove the battery. Let stand for 5 minutes and replace the battery. It should start fine. Mine has done this 3 times since I purchased it.

Internal battery won't charge

Common issue. Steps to troubleshoot/solve:
1. Pull off face, press reset tab.
2. If unit wont turn on or if turns off immediately, connect to home computer using mini usb on side of gps (any usb cord that fits will do). This will charge the internal gps battery, which is discharged.
3. You will not be able to see the gps charge indicator while the usb cord is plugged into the unit. To check charge level, disconnect it, turn it on, and note the large "battery" icon.
4 Do you have a dead internal battery? If the gps holds a charge from your computer usb port, you don't.
5. If you have a dead battery, Google DIY replacement. With some soldering it can done for $15 total.
6. If you don't have a dead battery, the issue is charging from the cigarette lighter socket. Your car socket may have blown a fuse (check car manual). Your charger unit may have blown a fuse (unscrew the tip, check fuse inside). Also, some car sockets don't work when the ignition is off. Test yours.
7. There is a good chance the connection of the charger wire to the gps cradle is the problem. Fiddle with that. Replacement cradles are available for the c340 at about $25.
8. If your unit is not charging from the cradle/socket, buy a 12v usb cord. Plug into socket and into usb port of the gps. This is a workaround or alternative to buying a new cradle.
9. IMPORTANT: observe the "battery" icon while driving, esp. if you have doubts about charging. Basically, if you can see the icon, you're not connected to an outside (car or computer) power source. That is, if you can see the battery-charge indication, it means your battery is currently discharging and unless you get another power source to work it will be dead in a few hours.
