This could be either a software or a hardware problem. the reason it works in safemode is because safemode does not initiate some on the drivers by recovery with recovery cd does. I recommend that you formatt your harddrive completely then install a fresh copy of your vista operating system. then install the correct device drivers (download from the manufactures website if you have doubts) to your system 1 by 1, restarting the system after each driver installation. this should work and if the problem persists at least you will be able to identfy which device is giving you a problem as it will restart itself again after you install the driver for that device.

boot into safe mode with networking ,run malwarebytes and get that to remove the virus. if your disc isn't compatible you can try using neo-smart's recovery discs (http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/)and burn that to disc and recover your vista that way

best of luck :)

I bought a laptop with Lonovo Window Vista Ultimate, but when my system crashed and I reinstalled it, But needed to activate kindly assist me

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa!

I believed you are having problem with the Operating System on the laptop itself,. You said you already reinstall it, there are two ways of reinstalling the Operating System on Lenovo, By using One Key Recovery and by using the Recovery Disc. If you are going to use the Recovery Disc, make sure that you boot from the disc itself so it will not ask for any activation key, please follow the steps below.

For One Key Recovery:

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Press the little button near the power button, it usually do have a drawing of an icon that looks like a horse shoe or a headset.

3. There will be a window that will appear which do have three option, One Key Antivirus, One Key Recovery and System Setup. Choose One key Recovery.

4. There will be another window that will appear which do have two option, Restore from initial backup and Restore from user backup,Choose Restore from initial back up

5. It will asked you if you want to continue, Just click on OK or YES.

6. Once done, Reboot the computer.

For Recovery Disc,

1. Insert the disc inside the drive.

2. Turn off the computer then turn it back on and keep on tapping F12

3. There will a window that will appear which do have three options, HDD,ODD/DVD/CD, and NAT, choose ODD/DVD/CD

4. It will asked you to press any key immediately, you will need to press any key immediately so that it will boot from ODD.

5. It will asked you to choose a partition, choose Disc 0 partition 1

6. Reboot computer once done.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

It could be a few things. Try re-seating your RAM modules to make sure they are inserted properly. It could be a virus (a la subseven). If you were in a public hotspot someone could have hacked you. If you get it fixed read this article.

I cant install vista on presario cq61 105sa??

Hi
Sometimes getting around these virus problems can be a little tricky. I've found, in my own business that when reinstalling VISTA it will give problems. To eliminate those I use a Linux program called Gpartition. Its free and down loadable. You can use this to completely eliminate anything on that partition (wiped). Then restart VISTA and it should see a blank disk and want to format it. Goodluck

My computer crashed and it won't boot up. i don't have a recovery disc, is there anyway to load it back up without taking it to someone?

You can press F8 during the POST to get the SAFE MODE option and try and go into safe mode and see if you can do a system restore while in safe mode.

My laptop has frozen at the loading screen

I believe you are running Windows Vista. If you are, your system has suffered a crash. If you have the recovery discs, you're going to have to first attempt to fix the boot record. If this doesn't work, then you're going to have to do a destructive restore.

You'll lose all the data. If you don't have any recovery discs, contact Toshiba. If it is under warranty, they'll send you a copy of the discs. They may charge about 40 dollars.

Just make sure that you can read off the product key to them, otherwise I don't think that they can help you.

Do you have the product key for Windows Vista - it should be on a sticker on the side of the computer. If so, you can try the following:
  • Borrow a friends DVD for Vista and enter your product key when asked.  This will automatically select the correct version of Vista as all version are stored on the same DVD.

When reinstalling XP, install in a directory other than WINDOWS. Your My Documents will be safe, unless you have already overwritten it. Other data should be safe.DO NOT FORMAT THE DISK as the installation suggests.
