Hi,

Please elaborate the problem providing us with more details like the type of CD which you want to play on your computer (Music CD, video CD, photos, etc.)

Also, let us know the operating system of your computer (windows XP, Vista, others)

Usually, to play a CD, one has to insert the CD in the CD drive of the computer and a pop-up menu opens asking you to select the program to open the CD. If the content of the CD is music or video files, it can be viewed using Windows Media Player.

For more help and clarifications, please feel free to reply to this post with additional details.

Thanks for using FixYa.

    Many thanks for the reply.

To play the CD in your computer, insert the CD in the CD drive and a pop-up menu will open (See attached image)

Select "Play Audio Cd using Windows Media Player". This will open Windows Media player.

Alternately, you can open the CD by clicking the "Windows" button at the bottom-left of the desktop, then select "Computer". (See attached image)

You will find a CD drive icon. Double-click on this icon to open the list of files in the CD. Then double-click on the audio file which you wish to play.

    Thanks once again.

Burned cd will only play on my computer. How do I get it to play other places

It depends what setting you used to burn the disc. Some will only play on certain players. Many people don't also have the right CODECS to play video files with their media players. But they can download CODEC packs from the internet for free.

Cds play on all cd players but the ones i made on new computer do not why?

it all depends on the CD's your using. some CD's will not play on some players. try DVD-R blank disc, this may make a difference. try one to see ! I ran into the same problem a while ago! it depends on the player itself, DVD-R 4.7GB data 16xspeed. this should work if player is compatable with it.

Computer will not play dvd or cd, but it does show the player in My Computer

The computer has to be told to play the play the CD or DVD automatically if that is what you want. Go to the Control Panel, and find Hardware and Sound, look around for the DVD and CD settings, and change them to play automatically.

CD won't play

Sounds like the disk has not finalised correctly. Computers can play CDRs when they are only partly completed as they search the disk fro the files. A CD player expects to find a Table of Contents to tell it where the tracks are and if this has not written correctly it will not play on ordinary CD players but will work in computers.
