Here's the link to the manufacturer's site http://www.mtdproducts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/mtdproducts/our-products/riding-lawn-mowers
When on the page, towards the top of the page click on "Owner's Center" and it has links to the manual and other helpful information.

Front wheels out of alignment steering is hard to turn

Sounds like you got a Murray, Yardman, etc. Steering system is of very poor quality. Front axle has plastic bushing on spindles they break and don't take much abuse. Spindles bend very easy and so with these conditions steering becomes hard and unpleasant. Front axles are not there strong point. Jack up front of mower and check for loose, sloppy wheel conditions. Go from there. New bushings and parts are available at varies places. Best repair would be to think about a mower with a strong front axle. Cast iron, steel etc, rather than a stamped out thin metal one that will always give you problems. Who doesn't bump trees, curbs, yard ornaments etc.

I charged the battery on my yard machines 12.5 riding mower but when I tried to start it I get nothing. The lights don't even come on in the accesory position

Did you charge the battery while stick conected to the mower? you may have blown the fuse that comes of the solanoid that will cut all power off usually founf under steering compartment

I have a riding mower and the steering shaft goes to a deck, the phillips screw and shaft is loose but will not brake loose. there is a gear at the bottom of shaft and this turns the wheels it is not...

I have a yardman that had a similar problem, there is a spacer/gromit at the end of the shaft just above the gear this needs to be in place to hold the steering shaft straight.
