Check the fuel filter and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of all of the fuel lines looking for decay or other damage. Make sure the carburetor fasteners are tight. If still no help, check the carburetor lower chamber diaphragm for flexibility with no holes or other damage. Clean the carburetor with spray carburetor cleaner inside and out while you have it off of the engine. Does the primer bulb fill with fuel after several pumps? Did you check the spark at the plug--it should be blue and snappy. Hope some of this helps!

On the carburetor got two screws to adjust the carburetor. The first is to adjust the saw when working at high speeds. Another is when running at low revs. It is best to either put back for about 1.5 cycle of the maximum of the end of the rotation of the screws. If then the saw starts, then you can adjust it fine at higher revs (H), then at low (L). Have can be minimum screw that stops the chain.

Hi, I just cleaned my Poulan Pro. Changed out the gas, opened the carb and flushed it out with fresh gas, cleaned the fuel lines, the spark plug and air filter. I didn't replace the fuel filter though. ...

The fuel pick up or filter should be changed every year but if your saw will start and run good but just not idle then adjust the screw marked T counterclockwise slowly until chain starts to rotate without you depressing the throttle. At that point back it off about 1/16 of a turn until saw will idle but chain doesn't move.Thank you. P.S. If you want to you can go back to factory setting by turning H & L fully closed then open 1 to 1 1/4 turn and very slowly adjust for smoothest operation. Do not adjust H anymore then minimum off factory to avoid engine damage.
If you need further help I would suggest you have a trained tech.service it. Good luck.

Have an old husky 40 probably about15-20 years old. Was running but stopped, could crank back up but when throttle was applied it stopped running. Inspected fuel pickup line to carb and it was broken...

On 2 cycle motors, the carb actually has a return line to the tank and this pressurizes the tank to bring the fuel into the carb. You may need to take the carb apart and chec the diaphram inside to make sure it's not cracked. This is what creates the pressure.
You should be able to purchase a carb rebuild kit from a local small engine repair shop. Also check your air filter and make sure it's cleaned and reoiled as needed. Change the spark plug as wel.. when they sit for long periods of time, they tend to not fire as well due to the chemicals it's exposed to.

My poulan 360a chainsaw cuts out when used for 5 mins. when opening throttle to saw woods it does not respond and cuts starts again ok but will not respond to throttle. it is ok when motor is cold.

Check the fuel filter for plugging, the fuel lines for hardness/cracking/splitting. Clean or replace the air filter. Clean the muffler if plugged. Make sure that the carburetor fasteners are tight. Check the spark plug condition--gap should be 0.020" and the insulator should be light to medium tan color. If still having problems, the carburetor may need to be cleaned and serviced. Hope this helps!

Chain saw won't start

Check the fuel filter for plugging (which is common when fuel is left in the machine over winter storage). You should run the carburetor dry after emptying the fuel tank for storage.Hope this helps!
