the tevion GPS do not require u to to load any software .It is ready to work.If for any reason you need to reinstall the software in the future ,or update the map,before you do anything else ,you'll need to download a program called "microsoft ActiveSync" when u install this on your computer u 'll be able to communicate with you gps providing you connect it to your computer.
Yes Poodler is totally right all activation problem are related to mixing 1 for l (for larry)

On Garmin gps there is several ways to update your maps you can buy the sd update card, the cd, or upload it from the garmin website using a usb cord sold seperatly. the updates can range from $70 dollars to $120. I work at best buy and we carry all the updates for garmin
