If you open the chuck all the way you will see a Allen wrench screw down the throat. If you can get that off you will beable to pull the hole chuck off. Turn the chuck so you can see the bottom and you should see the cruves where you can slide it back in.

Remove chuck from DC 940 drill

Inside the chuck, if it is wide open, you should see a screw with a T20 head It is reverse thread so turn to the right to loosen. If it is too tight, clamp gently with the chuck facing up and let some WD-40 soak in for a while.

How can i remove the chuck from my cordless dewalt power drill

Hello, W/D here.

To remove your chuck, open the jaws of the chuck fully, but don't open them so tight that they lock in the open position. Remove the screw inside the chuck. Spray the inside of the chuck with penetrating oil. Tap around the edge of the chuck, while pulling it away from the motor.
It should come right off, with a little effort.

Best regards, --W/D--

Removel of chuke

Open your chuck as far as it will go and look inside. If you see a screw go to www.ereplacementparts.com/article/890/How_to_Remove_a_Drill_Chuck.html for a good how to on this.

If there is no screw inside the chuck you have to take the drill to a Dewalt service center and have them remove it. It takes a special jig to remove it and I don't think you want to spend over $200 to remove one chuck. Do not try to use the taper-fit tool on a cordless drill, they do not use the taper fit chucks.

if it is a keyless chuck soak the inside of the chuck with oil. charge the battery so you have max power. put a cloth around the chuck and use a pair of channel locks to hold the chuck and put the drill in reverse. good luck

How to remove the chuck?

open the chuck fully and it shoudl have a screw inside. Unscrew it, but be carefull, these screws are usually reversed - to uncsrew, rotate it clockwise. Once done, put allen key into chuck (short side in), fasten the chuck to hold allen key well and hit the key with hammer - counterclockwise direction. You might want to verify this procedure with someone else as I have no experience with Dewalt, but this way it works for Makita, Metabo, Narex, ... then why not for Dewalt? Juraj

How do i remove the chuck from dewalt dc925 cordless drill, dosnt have a screw inside the chuck, read somewhere that i need a special tool but no instruction or picture of the tool. please help., thank you

The dc925 and the current model dcd950 along with several other models of Dewalt 's line of cordless hammer drills DO NOT have a screw inside removal requires a CHUCK REMOVAL FIXTURE part #
233804-40 also you can't use a generic replacement chuck. As of 2/2/2010 the prices on the Dewaltservicenet web site are $72.74 for
the tool and $69.70 for the chuck, part # 330075-90.

DeWalt 12V cordless the chuck mow backs out under load

That depends take the chuck off and see if you can see a part of a screw in the spindle. If so try and turning it with a small pick to remove it. It sounds like all you possibly broke was the chuck retaining screw. You can go to a repair center and pick one up relatively cheap or go to Dewaltservicenet.com and type in your model number to look at a breakdown for this part. Let me know if anything different, I take it also that the tool runs and sounds OK otherwise?
