Don't know what model you have, but I would check the fuse first. It should be marked with a Fxxx where xxx are numbers. Sometimes the fuses are glass, others times they look like little surface mount chip types. If you find that a fuse is blown, does not mean that just replacing it will solve the problem, you need to figure why the fuse has blown, typically the FETs short out. Hope this helps.

I checked the fuse and it seems fine, when you say" FETs short out" what part is that?? Sorry I'm not too savvy with specifications, I don't have a manual, but if you could be kind to tell what FET means, I 'd appreciate it.

A FET stands for a Field Effect Transistor. It typically comes in a square dark plastic package with a metal tab on the top. It connects to the board with 3 leads. They are typically used to drive the backlight transformers. When they fail, the LCD goes dark. You can check them with a meter, to determine if they are open or shorted.

I have model 1975NW. When power is turned on, green light appears, then orange light. No picture is present.

The ORANGE light indicates "power-saving" mode -- when no "output" from a video-card is being detected, the screen will dim itself. Try a different monitor. Try a different video-card in your computer. Try your monitor on a different computer.

More likely to be bad caps (bulging top/seal) in the power supply, which when they failed, they may have taken out the inverter fuse on the transistors in the inverter circuits also. See example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

The monitor will not come on. The indicator light just stays on red. We will unplug it and plug it back in, the power indicator light will flash to green then return to red.

Power light is on but there is no picture on monitor.

Hello,
Very common problem with these LCD monitors. You have a blown power supply for the backlight circuit. If you are comfortable with elecronics repair/soldering I can walk you thru opening the unit and repairing it. If you don't want to do it yourself we have a repair option available for $35.00 plus return shipping.

Buttons on the bottom of the westinghouse monitor

momof3boysn1, Did you try removing the plug from the outlet strip and then plug monitor back in and turn it back on? Usually the button that looks like an asterisk with a small circle dead center will be the brightness control. get back to me if this won't help. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aol.com
