The board controls the fan so if it's not getting power to the fan that would be the problem. If it is getting power to the fan see if the fan blade will spin freely when you spin it. It should.

HI. Can you go into more detail on what is actually happening. Your heading is incomplete. Please describe what you have done to the fan in detail. It just says" Freezer fan dose not turn on. tried fan motor,...."

I need more detail for a proper response.

Thanks...

the fan does not come on. the defrost mode will not turn on. read voltage to fan motor and it read 95V. tried a known good fan motor it still does not work . replaced defrost adapter board still does not work. we know the compressor is good because there is ice build up

Have you tested the jumpers on the main board? If so, what were the readings?

How did the relays look on the board? Where there any discolorations around the relays and connection points?

Additionally, have you tested the terminator of defrost thermostat? This is a very common culprit..

  • tds1slidell Jul 15, 2010

we changed the board and the terminator still not working

OK, have you verified that the door switch is functioning as designed? This switch is very important. If it is not working as designed, the fan will not receive the command to run. Check that door switch. The inside light should come on when you open both doors.

  • Michael Masters
    Michael Masters Jul 15, 2010

There should be two door switches, one for each door. if one fails, the entire circuit will not work. Check both door switches. You can use a multimeter to achieve the electronic test, or simply open both doors to see if the inside lights come on.

  • Michael Masters
    Michael Masters Jul 15, 2010

If both door switches are functional, this will lead to a failed or shorted main harness. You stated that your main PCB is ok: I hope you tested the jumpers and relays.. One bad relay can bring down the entire Main PCB...

Freezer motor will not turn on

Try cleaning the unit out and any coils you can reach (typically located near the bottom of the unit behind the toe grille). Do you hear the compressor running? The compressor is constantly meant to go on and off frequently to keep unit at a constant temperature. If you do not, the unit could possibly have a coolant leak or an issue with the internal sealed system including a faulty compressor, evaporate fan or main control board. Contact a professional move forward accurately.

Your Adaptive Defrost Control may be the cause. The part number is=> 4388931 Defrost Control Board
12_12_2012_9_15_07_pm.jpg

Sometimes the adaptive defrost control board will allow the fans to continue to run as the compressor sits silent. I want someone to also fill the top of the compressor for warmth or heat to the point you cannot keep your hand on top. If the problem is the compressor is too hot to keep hand there and the refrigerator is not cooling you will most likely need to change out the compressor start components. I see you all ready tried the compressor start components. Then you have only the
4388931 Defrost Control Board to replace and it can be found inside the fresh food section behind the controls just above the top shelf, Let me know if compressor was getting hot. I will be here to answer any questions you may have, Thanks Sea Breeze

Mainboard location

There is usually a thermistor in the coil inside that switches the fan on after defrost. It might be open circuit or the coil may not be getting cold enough. Check the condenser is clear and clean and try a thermometer in the evaporator (coil inside) to see how cold it's getting.

Compressor & Evap. Fan both work for 12 hours then evap stops

I believe that because defrost is done by the mother control board this is why this is happening the part of the board that controls defrost is malfunctioning and the only way to resolve the problem is to replace the mother board part number WR55X10656 You can find the replacement board at these places below. Evap fan stops running/low cooling, Unplug Frig Evap fan runs

Is there anything obstructing the fan area, ice build up ? It is normal for your freezer to get warm if evap fan is not working, it is essential for it to work :) A defrost cycle should kick on a timer or as needed (adaptive) and there should not be excessive frost buildup that it blocks your evap fan. I would have suggested you unplug your refrigerator for about 10 minutes and see if that resets your control board - if not, then you will need service - either replacing motor assembly or a faulty control board.

Refridge quit cooling suddenly inboth freezer

That could be a broad range of possibilities. The defrost timer, adaptive defrost board, compressor start relay, compressor start capacitor or a mother board. Would you happen to have the model number so I can narrow down those possibilities? If you pull away from wall remove cover over the compressor and then unplug. Touch the compressor and let me know if cool, warm or too hot to touch. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Slow compressor fan

You need to remove the fan and test it somewhere different. The compressor is in need of the condenser fan. Everything will overheat without that fan working. You should also test the power at that pin plug. Let me know what you find. Sea Breeze

Fridge not getting cold, fan tested and working but not being switched

The fan won't run if the unit is in a "defrost" cycle. It turns the fan and compressor off so the heater can defrost the coils. If the evap fan isn't running and the compressor isn't running then you may be stuck in a defrost cycle. See if you have a defrost timer that can be manually advanced (looks like a screw head that can only turn clockwise direction). It could be located in the frige section on the roof area. Usually a small hole mixed in with other screw holes that you will have to look up into and see the clock dial screw head. If you find that, manually turn the screw (it will click as notches go by) until you can hear the compressor and fan turn on. If that happens you likely have a bad defrost timer. If you have an "adaptive" defrost unit it will be a small circuit board that controls the defrost cycle and you will have to replace the board.
