Question about Yamaha RX-395 Receiver

1 Answer

My AM radio reception does not work. I have a loop antenna. The sound comes in for about 30 seconds, then fades away. Re-orienting the antenna does not work. FM reception is fine.

You should buy an antenna amplifier. Here are some that work in-line and are designed specifically for AM radio:

Soundworks CD 745 won't play AM

Hi,
I looked up the manual and saw that the unit comes with an AM antenna loop. The first thing I would check is to find out if that antenna loop is properly installed. If it has come loose you won't get any reception at all.
Here is a link to the manual online if you need it:

Wont pick up fm

Deploy the antenna, and orient it. Keep the radio away from electric appliances such fridges, and electric machines. Put the radio on a window sill or close to a window. If a building blocks the line of sight between radio and transmitter reception may be affected.

AM will not work on my radio

It does not work at all or reception is bad? The radio has a ferrite bar antenna inside. Tune in to the frequency of the station you want and rotate the radio slowly to find the orientation for best reception. You may also try to hook an external AM antenna to the radio.

The phono works, but i get no sound when tuner on

This usually means that the tuner is not getting sufficient reception for the station you are trying to listen to.

Receivers come with cheap wire loop antennas try upgrading to a powered FM antenna available online or at your local Radio Shack.

Hope that helps

AM reception

Since there is no AM antenna input on this radio, you will have to get an AM proximity antenna. One that does not need to connect to the radio. At Bose they recommend the Terk AM Advantage proximity antenna. I think you can get it on Audiovox.com.

FM Reception with Jensen MSR3007

I have the exact same problem with the exact same stereo. I started by removing the in-line AM/FM/VHF Separator and connecting the antenna directly to the stereo. The static/popping/fade-out continued. Today I swapped to a new antenna, but it did not help. I swapped back to the original antenna and for a brief while, I had good reception. The I went to coil the excess antenna cable and the static/popping/fade-out resumed. I have narrowed it down to either the antenna connector coming out of the back of the stereo or an internal circuit. Either way, it does not look like a do-it-yourself fix.

AM reception/AM power problems

Don't take your radio to work. Get your work done , then go home and listen to it. You will get better reception in a res. area.
