Question about Vacuums

Open Question

I have a Howard Miller Westminster Chime Mantle Clock. It has always worked fine. It stopped working and my husband took the battery out to change it and when the new battery is in it will not work. It is Model 613-=103 movt 354201J dial 272142J. The part you put the battery in almost looks too big for one double A but I can't see how two would fit. I am afraid the battery is just not in right. Can you help me with how many batteries go in this clock or if it is one what the problem could be. Thank you.

SOURCE: My SIO"SCAN outdoor temperature transmitter

Take the batteries out of both units. Wait about 5 minutes. Put the batteries in the clock and then put the ones in the remote sensor. You have to do this within 3 minutes. That should reset everything.

Antique Clock Oiling Tips

CLOCK OILING TIPS
* NOTE: Many Master Clock Smiths and Hobbyists used many different oils and as many different techniques.
* It is only good sense to use only the best in quality when selecting clock oils and grease. A number of fine oils are made especially for clocks. The oil used should stay in place and not evaporate easily and have no tendency to gum or get sticky as it ages. Most clock oils meet these standards. [CAUTION: Never consider using non-clock lubricants, as they tend to not really work well in clocks. Some are too light and cause unnecessary bushings wear, while others are too thick or can evaporate, over time will gum up and stop the clock prematurely.]

Oiling Procedures
-Main-springs are oiled after cleaning and before they are recoiled.
-Teeth and pinions are never oiled.
-Normally, the dial train of gears, hour wheel, minute wheel and minute wheel post are not oiled. However, oil is used between the center shaft and cannon pinion where slip friction is present in setting the hands.
-All points of friction such as train wheel pivots to bushings are oiled. Verge faces are oiled directly.
-Oil is always used sparingly and should never run all over the plates.

Hope this tip helps.

My Tork 1101 24 hr timer has stopped working. I hear it running, but the clock will not turn. I have to turn it on and off manually for my pool pump. This happened 2 years ago, then the following year...

You might need $45 clock motor for for Tork 1101 120Volt.

Open following link to identify timer and see replacement clock motor and trippers:

Intermatic crossover shows T101 timer replaces 120Volt Tork 1101.
Amazon sells new Intermatic timer for $45 with super shipping

Crossover wiring from Tork to Intermatic:
Black wire on Tork L and 1 connect to Intermatic terminal 1
White wires on Tork X connect to Intermatic terminal A
Black wire on Tork 2 connects to Intermatic terminal 2

The brushes are not working.

We have a Max Extract 60 and when we turned it on the brushes did not work. My husband took the pieces for the brush motor apart and put it back together and then they worked fine. They must of been bound up or put together wrong. Works great now.

Hoover steamvac brushes don't spin. everything else works great. Took it apart and no visible problems

my husband took it apart today and the impellers were gunked up with black stuff.

he used these pictures that someone else generously posted. ours was slightly different in internal design, but they are helpful regardless.

here is an exploded diagram of the 5903, 04, etc. it will help you see if any parts are missing or broken.

parts list if you need some:

it's working fine now. sucks much better too. what a difference!

guess for the $179 these things avg, they just need annual maintenance. I wouldn't pay someone to do it though.

Brushes not spinning....

My status light came on, the vac beeped twice and stopped. I noticed my brushes weren't spinning. I took an eyeglass screwdriver and took off the center screw that holds on the brushes. I cleaned the shaft that the brushes spin on. replaced brushes and it works great! I just did this now and it is still running. my status light problem is fixed my roomba is 4 years old and I am on my 2nd battery. Seems to have fixed the problem. FYI it was wrapped with hair, dirt and it was greasy.
