You would need a different motherboard, along with the CPU and most likely new RAM so that all components match

Sorry but you can't. It is not compatible. You can install Pentium D processor instead, if you want to.

What is the main difference between dual core and core 2 duo? processor

    1. Dual core is the generic name given to processors that have 2 cores on the same chip 2. Core 2 Duo is the second line of dual core processors from Intel 3. Other dual core processors aside from Core 2 Duo are the Core Duo from Intel and the X2 series from AMD 4. All Core 2 Duo processors are dual core but not all dual core processors are Core 2 Duo

Is it acceptable to use a intel dou core 2 775 on this board I understand they run cooler than the P4 with higher speed.

    Hi,
HERE is a list of valid processor's, and Duo Core is not an option on that board. Feasibly the chip will fit the board, but you'd have to get the 8000 fsb Duo Core Chip to match which is only 1.8 Ghz. vs a new P4 at around 3.4 Ghz. Adding a chip like that will make that puppy fly. Having more power might be required, but the alternatives is a new board!!

    Good Luck

Pc Chips P23G wont reconize my new p4 core 2 duo

The PC Chips P23G versions 1.0A & 3.0 will not support any current generation Core2Duo, Core2Quad or Pentium Dual-Core processors. Only some of the first generation (Conroe Core) Core2Duo processors which run @ 1066mhz bus and some Pentium D (presler core) processors which run @ 800mhz bus.are supported. Not even most current BIOS will add support for any current processors. Check the pcchips website for CPU compatibility for the P23G..

    Uppgrade to a faster processor?

    Hi
Pentuim D is a processor that has 2 x cpu in one and a core 2 duo has 2 cpu's plus 1 smart core bigger cache
you can only upgrade to a E2140 or E2180 processor on that motherboard
OR replace the board with a newer type

If you want to work the actual speed for the processor of a dual core take the speed for example dual core 1.8 x 2.1 =3.78 GHz
    Core 2 Duo  1.8 x 2.4 = 4.32 GHz
