> this file does not have a program associated with it

Vista should say "choose a program from the following list". Correct?
Choose Internet Explorer, and check the "always use this program' box.

No file assosiation

Go to Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types. You can create the association there. Press the "New" button, enter the file extension and navigate to the program executable that you want to open that file. It should stick.

Hi! I will be glad to assist you. If this is your issue, here are the steps you need to do:
HP LaserJet P3005 Printer Series - Service Error 49.0E00 when Printing PDF Files from Mac 10.5
Issue
A Service Error 49.0E00 message appears while printing PDF files from Mac 10.5 with the EconoMode setting enabled from the printer control panel and using the printing presets with the EconoMode setting disabled.
Solution
Recommended action:
Disable the EconoMode setting from the printer control panel (the default setting is OFF ).
Select printing presets with the EconoMode setting disabled.
Try performing a test print from PDF files in the computer to check for the results.
NOTE: If it is required to use a printing preset with the EconoMode feature turned off, ensure that EconoMode is set to OFF from the printer control panel also.

Need to set an association to open a file

The first thing that you have to find out is what type of file is it. Normally if the file is not associated with any program on the computer then that means that the program is not installed. To find out the type of program that it is you can go to the link below then check the file extention. The file extention by the way is the letters after the period in the filename. EX. hello.DOC the capital letters is the file extention
