Question about Computers & Internet

Hi, got an AMD computer with an Epox EP-8KTA3 PRO motherboard with Apollo bios.It will boot, but wont load O/S and the fault code LED's show FF. I am trying to find a manual to interpret the fault code and determine if I can simply flash the bios with an update to get it going again.(well give it a go,never done before) I have found fault codes for other Epox M/B's but not this particular model, the FF code means different things on different boards and cannot find a bios upgrade. Can you help at all ? Thank you. Steven

Hello, everyone, have you ever played a game called RuneScape? I heard this game is very popular before, and now there are still many players, and recently I found a website may be able to help you, to share with you www.rsgoldfast.com

I have an EP-8KTA3PRO, Code FF on the LED means "System Booting" the BIOS has passed all Post checks and control has been passed to the Operating system. It stays at FF as long as machine is on and operating system is running. I would suggest the problem is with the operating system, or possibly hard drive corruption? Do you get any error messages on the screen after the Bios checks? you say it does boot? Never Flash the Bios unless absolutely necessary.
Just in case you get it working you may be interested to know that the manual insists 1GB is maximum memory but that is a lie, I have just installed 1.5GB (3 x 512MB) which is the true maximum. But it ONLY recognises the full 1.5GB if you populate DIMM 0,1, and 3 - leave DIMM 2 empty.
Good Luck

Ethernet driver for EPoX EP-8KDA3J

I have this exact same mobotherboard. Did you install the chipset drivers? You need to download and install the nforce3 chipset driver. It includes the nic driver and all other things you're probably missing besides video and sound.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce3_winxp_5.11

I should tell you that my onboard NIC had problems on this motherboard. Sometimes it would lose connection, sometimes it would make my pc take 5 minutes to boot up when the cable was plugged in or just crash my computer.

I just use a PCI nic now. But you'll want to install that driver anyway. If you use a PCI nic, then go to Control Panel, Network Connections and right click the nforce nic and click Disable.
