Hi, When I closed the door to my washer it took a few times before the door lock light would come on and the machine would start, then one day the light wouldn't come on at all. I tried to unscrew the door lock mechanism from the outside but the interlock fell inside the machine. I have managed to get the back panel and the top of the machine off but I still can't get top the interlock, can I get the front of the washer off? ps my machine is a hotpoint aquarius 1100 (WD61P)
Re: How to get access to door interlock mechanism?
WHAT YOU HAVE TODO TO GET THE FRONT OFF IS TAKE OUT THE SOAP DRAWER COMPLETELY THERE IS FOUR PHILLIPS SCEWS TAKE THEM ALL OUT THAN TAKE THE TWO KNOBS OFF THAN LIFT UP THE PANEL SLOWLY WATCH THE WIRES THAN UNSCREW THE THREE SCREWS ACCROSS THE TOP OF THE FRONT PANEL AND THE THREE ALONG THE BOTTOM YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO TAKE OFF THE RUBBER TO GAIN TO THE DOOR SWITCH

the code is for a door lock issue,it means the door isn't closing properly, most likely it will be the door switch, unplug the washer, remove the spring from around the outside of rubber boot, pull the boot off just on the side of the door switch enough just to change out the switch, put it back together.next time send the model number,i could have given you the part number, good luck
Sounds like you need the electric "door interlock" replaced. It is a simple matter of seperating the front of the machine enough to unplug the interlock mechanism, remove the two screws holding the mechanism in place and remove it from the back, reverse the procedure to install the new "updated" replacement part (- Bosch #170935 btw. about $37.00 from Sears). - time: approx 1/2 hour if you aren't mechanically inclined.
IT MIGHT BE EASY FOR YOU TO GET TO THE DOOR LOCK FROM THE TOP OF THE MACHINE.IF YOU HAVE REMOVED THE 2 SCREWS HOLDING THE LOCK IN PLACE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE IT HANGGING FROM THE TOP ITS BEST YOU HAVE A NEW LOCK ON HAND TO REPLACE IT.IF ALL FAILS BEST YOU SEEK THE HELP OF A TECHNICIAN.LET ME NO IF YOU NEED EXTRA ASSISTANCE.GOODLUCK.MOHAMED
The interlock has jammed, first try gently pushing the door frame on the latch side of the door and then hit the outer door frame with your fist, not too hard but a reasonable bang this may release the door, if this works spray a lubricant into the latch hole in the panel, open and close the door a few times before reusing, if this fails then you have to force the door open, the best way is to remove the lid and manouver the door lock from the inside, either the lock or the latck will eventually break, this is unavoidable, then replace the interlock and any other broken part.
Switch the machine off at the wall and leave it off for a few minutes. The door interlock should reset. If it doesn't, then you have a faulty door interlock or by the sound of what you have described, you might even have a board problem!!
