I hope you have wireless adapter on your computer. I also need to know if you've set up the router or not. To set up a wireless Lan connection, you need a router or an access point.
After you set up the router and the wireless adapter on your computer, you can only search the wireless printer from your computer as follows;
Start > Control Panel > Printers & Faxes or (Hardware and sound > Printer) > Add A printer (this should be on the toolbar in windows vista and 7 and in windows xp on the left pane) > Select Add a network/wireless/bluetooth printer > Next, then your computer will automatically search for the wireless printer. Make sure the printer is power On.

If you haven't set up your router, you'll not be able to do this. At least one Router is required and the computer must have a wireless adapter installed.

If you have problem, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Brother 8890DW Wireless Configuration Difficulties. I want to configure the above printer through a wireless acess point connected to a router via ethernet. The router sees the printer, yet the computers...

I don't have a solution, but I have a similar problem with a new Brother 8690DW MFC machine. Out of the box - I can't establish wireless connection. Brother "tech support" (!) insists I am typing in the WEP key incorrectly... doesn't matter to them that I've configured literally hundreds of devices with encryption keys before.

I'm about ready to return this machine and get another. Yet, I suspect that the Brother setup instructions are missing something I need to do - I can't figure out what, though, and have been through every relevant setting I can find.

Hello, I have a brother MFC-490CW mult-function printer (wireless) and I am having trouble setting up the wireless feature so my laptop can print to it via through my home network (Linksys wireless...

You have to make sure the following are used on your wireless settings on your router -

Wireless Network Security SSID (32 chr), WEP 64/128bit, WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), WPA2-PSK (AES)

This means your SSID is less than 32 chars and your running either WEP, WPA. Or WPA2

Then on your printer make sure you have the wireless enabled and Just a good rule of thumb - When putting in a wireless printer just fudge with the wirless/TCP/IP settings on the printer until you can ping the printer from the PC. Do NOT bother running the software installs until you know you have a good ping from the printer as it will just bomb out.

How do i scan? using a brother MFC 685-cw..can't seem to use the scanner.. anyone help?

I have a Brother MFC 7840W and have struggled with the wireless features. Not sure how you have this configured but if wireless suggest you find a way to connect via LAN or USB...I cannot make mine work via wireless but hardwired works fine. To fix, I had to 'reset' the MFC (functions on the MFC itself) and then reinstall the software selecting USB as the connection method. Sounds crazy but once I did it worked.

Changing the printer driver setting may improve the print speed.
Highest resolution needs longer data processing, transfer and printing
time. Try the other settings of quality in the printer driver ‘Basic’ tab.
Also, click the ‘Settings’ tab, and make sure you uncheck the
True2Life®.

Borderless printing is slower than normal printing. If you want to print
more quickly, set the Borderless feature off.
