Question about Danby DCD5505W Electric Dryer
"Start" button won't work -- you press it and nothing happens. It's plugged in; the circuit is working. The "on/off" button works but the "start" won't get the dryer going.
What should I do? Do I need a repair person? Is this a common problem? Or is there a commonly known part/problem and I just have to follow up?
This is not to common unless the door switch is faulty which is common and could cause the dryer not to start. The switch may look fine but could be faulty.
If you had access to an ohmmeter you could test the start button and the door switch. The start switch could be faulty, but testing would have to be done to tell for sure if that was the problem.
You can try and unplug the machine for 10 minutes and plug it back in and see if it resets the machine.
If it does not reset, then testing should be done to the start button and the door switch.
There is also a thermal fuse which could pop if there was a short in the machine. I don't believe you would have any power though. You said your timer works, so that is why I am assuming start button or door switch is likely bad.
