Question about Digital Cameras

2 Answers

I have a Canon Power Shot A-60 camerea. I recently replaced the lithium batteries and since that time have not been able to get a clear image on the camera screen or when it is viewed on a computer, etc. It is very faint and verticle line al all across the image. When I tilt the camera forward the image clears somewhat.

Thanks. I probably need to take it in to a camera store but I will have to find out where the nearest one is. Appreciate your help.

HI,

I believe it is the camera fault and you will have to get it serviced or if it is under warranty get it replaced.

However before giving it to repair you can try changing the settings in your camera to see if it clears the image:

Ist most likely a fault in the camera as I said earlyer, the adjustments probably have no effect on the lines.

let me know if you need anything else.

Won't turn on

How "fresh" are the batteries. Quite often they are weak, right out of the package. We revive a lot of "dead" cameras with Energizer Lithium AA batteries. Many cameras that people are ready to write-off, are resurrected with the Energizer Lithiums. I also think that battery manufacturers are not putting as much "juice" in them as they used to.

Low battery

Digital cameras are like miniature computers, constantly processing large amounts of data, their power requirements far exceed film based cameras and conventional batteries are simply not up for the task. I have seen plenty of times where someone has bought a brand new pack of cheap batteries which fail to even turn on a digital camera! You are best to spend your money on a set of rechargeable Ni MH batteries. They will pay themselves off many times over and will reduce unnecessary landfill. You can of course still buy disposable if its more convenient but you really do have to spend up on top of the range quality to get any good use out of them. Also be aware that cameras using only two batteries (such as the 560) are more demanding again on battery performance.

Replace battery sign in New canon A590si camera.

You're using the wrong batteries. You need to purchase lithium batteries. They are quality batteries for high powered, battery operated electronics. Personally, I have a battery charger and use rechargable duracell batteries. (HR6/ DC1500/ NiMH/ 1,2V) Gives you approximately 16 hrs before having to recharge.

Try another set of well batteries. I had the same problem with well known, brand new batteries and changed over to disposable AA Lithium batteries and never had the problem again. I have also found that the Lithium batteries last much longer than my rechargebles or the "six-times-longer" brand.

Has anyone tried a hard reset on their camera by removing the main power batteries for 60 seconds and the reinserting them as if it were the first time power up. This may not fix your particular problem, but when the processor that runs all of the electronic features of the camera gets confused, this is the best way to clear its confusion.
