Microsoft lifecam software change save locations

I am using a microsoft webcam VX-3000 and software lifecam 3.2. By default when you take a picture it saves the picture in a folder under my pictures folder in a lifecam folder. There is no way to change the location in the software. I was wondering if anyone knows how to change this thru the registry or else where any help would be appreciated.

You need to go to the micro-soft website www.microsoft.com and use their support section and see if they allow you software updates for expanded service with your camera. If they do then you can just download the updated software and start using your camera. If not you may need to check with the technical service and see what they require to get full use of the camera. You can also check the frequently asked questions and troubleshooting sections and see if the problem has been posted with a solution. I hope this helps you with your problem.

SOURCE: Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000-unknown video error on Skype

I tried the skype link given in Solution #1.

None of Skype's suggestions helped.

The problem child: Windows 7 (all updated) and current Skype.

I installed DirectX per Skype's suggestion.

Also found this link to MicroSoft driver for W7:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/DownloadResult.aspx?category=ICE&type=LifeCam&name=68A-00001&os=Win7_3264&lang=en

It's working at the moment. But the camera was working previously with this setup. Time will tell.

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

http://www.testmycam.com/

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to WLM (MSN)

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE to MSN
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the MSN software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Open MSN
Click 'Open Menu'
From 'Tools; navigate to, and click, 'Audio and Video setup'
Set your speakers
Click 'Test' - if OK, move on.
Set your mic as default
Use the slider to set volume and test.
Click 'Next'
This takes you to the video setup
Your webcam should be broadcasting - if not - make sure the webcam is set as default - restart MSN
Use 'Webcam Settings'to fine tune the picture.
Click 'Finish'

I am new to using a web cam. I purchased the VX6000 and everything is working, however, the people I talk to on it only see static pictures of me (Skype).

  4. Select your LifeCam device as the default microphone. For example, select Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000.

  6. Select your LifeCam device as the default Webcam. For example, select Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Test LifeCam by making a Skype test call.
