my fuel pump is running continuously when ignition turned on. i need to locate the fuel pump relay but dont have service manual, just the very informative owners manual! any solid answers?
Some models of cars have the fuel pump working even with the accessory turned on.
A work around is to wire a series switch on the power side of the fuel pump. Install the new fuel pump switch on the inside of the car at a convenient place. You can even hide it, and you have a theft protection switch, because when it is turned off, there will be no fuel for the engine.
When using the accessory, you can then turn the switch off. Remember to turn it on before starting the engine.
I have a 1998 Altima. It has a problem similar to your description. I cannot use the accessory to play the radio, because the electric fuel pump runs, and the heater motor stays on at the lowest position. There is no off position for the heater switch. I did not feel like going to the trouble to install a fuel pump cut-off switch. I don't use the radio with the engine switched off, therefore there is no problem for me with this.
