I also found black colored mold in my kurieg, I was getting a respiratory infection every couple of months and couldn't figure out why. I stopped using the machine immediatley about 4 months ago and haven't had a respiratory infection since. What's scary is what is inside the water resevoir that you can't see.

Clothes come out musty

I would put in some bleach and clothes that can handle it without damage and run a wash cycle. Leave the door open when you are done using the machine, or at least un-latched. There are commercial products, but bleach will do the same thing. You have stuff growing on the gizzards inside the drum, and bleach will likely kill them. They like dark & humid places.. guess what... that's your washer with the door kept latched.

I have mold forming on the ice depenser that's next to the water depenser. Is there a way to remove that piece so I can clean it?

with out seeing the brand or model i have to be pretty generic but their should be a removable grate so drips when dispensing ice or water that can be easily lifted and wiped out, if not place a paper towel at bottom of dispenser asm. to catch drips

Stainless Steel GE Profile with Bottom Freezer.

Have you had any cooling problems coincide with the ice problem? if no evidence of temperature variations, you either have a crack in the ice maker mold, causing water to drip into the ice bucket. Or you may have a bad water valve solenoid, not closing completely when the ice maker stops calling for water, overfilling ice maker into the bucket, and further down your freezer.

those are the most common problems, though other odd situations could also be a problem.

Water keeps pooling on the second shelf in the refrigerator, and I can not find the source.

Water collecting inside a fridge (that doesn't have a water dispenser in the fresh food compartment) is usually a sign of a clogged tube that directs water collected during the defrost cycle of the freezer coil. The defrost heater melts frost / ice that collects on the coil and water drips into a pan directly under the coil in the freezer compartment. The pan has a tube that allows the water to flow into a pan at the bottom of the fridge, where it is generally evaporated by the heat of the compressor.

You'll have to access the coil and pan (probably behind the back wall of the freezer - but check your model first!) and clear the obstruction from the tube. It is not uncommon for bacteria, mold, etc to grow in the tube. After clearing with a blunt flexible snake - run 4 - 6 ounces of a 10% bleach 90% water mixture to kill any growths remaining in the tube.

Sometimes, ice can form in the top inch or two of the tube, too. A turkey baster can be used to direct hot water into the tube to quicken the thaw process.

If there is water dispensing in the fridge, check all lines and filters in the compartment for spits, cracks and leaks. Repair / replace parts as needed.

Do not perform these steps with the power on!

I hope this helps!

Mold/Bacteria formed between ice dispenser and dispenser lever Can dispenser be removed from lever for cleaning? If not, how to clean?

Use a bathroom mold and bacteria remover spray available from most supermarkets. Also spray down into the feeder on the inside of the door. Make sure you rinse the area thoroughly after use and run water through the water chiller dispenser and run some ice throughthe ice dispenser and throw these away. Then it should be safe to use.

Mold/Bacteria formed behind ice dispenser spout and above dispenser lever. Can spout be removed for cleaning? If not, How to clean?

Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components.
Although you may can clean it by just spraying everything you can reach with a spray bottle of bleach and water mix and let it set for a while and then rinse with clean water. Test an inconspicuous spot the check for damage. Or another mold killer may work just as well.

Kenmore side by side refrig has tube with brown water backed up in it. What is the tube for and why is this liquid sitting in it?

Where is the tube? You have a drain hole in the back bottom of the freezer with a tube attached to it which goes down to the drain pan under the unit.
You have water line tubes on the back going to the ice maker and to reservior in fridge and on to the freezer door up to the dispenser.
There is a fill tube in the freezer where the water comes in to fill up the ice mold.

Mold in water dispenser tube

Your refrigerator has a filter system below the bottom and behind the kick plate. Two or three times you need to turn the water supply off to refrigerator and fill the old filter with clorox to kill the algae growing in the storage tank and after you finally get this out and purge the chlorine from system will you be able to use the ice or water to consume. I know this seams harsh but really there is very little else that can remove this without changing the whole water system. Once this is done change the filter regularly and this will help, click on link below and place your model number into the model search feature. This will give you pictures of the parts and there location. Let me know how this goes, Thanks, Sea Breeze
