Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional

1 Answer

I had a tech work on my computer some time ago and now I'm getting a message from Microsoft saying that I don't have a genuine windows license. The tech is not longer in business. Can you tell me how to correct this without having to purchase a new license.

Hi, I take it that you do have a genuine version of windows? Has your windows been activated? If yes then I sugest you contact Microsoft directly through their website. The other ? is did this person install any other windows software on your PC. Sorry there are more questions than answeres. Regards

You can only correct this if you have the original license key before you took it to the tech guy. You need to activate the key on Microsoft site after entering the key in your Windows XP system. But if you can't get this key you may need to buy another license key from Microsoft.

In my desktop it say "this is copy of windows is not genuine" ., what should i do to be genuine ?

Hi,

Did you get windows with your computer?
Where did u buy it from?
It seems like you might have got it from someone who put a pirated copy of windows on your pc.

The only thing you can do to make it genuine is by buying a microsoft windows genuine serial key, you can either buy the key alone, or buy another version of windows from a proper shop.

If you click the baloon that says you are not genuine it should take you to a website where you can purchase a genuine license key.

If your windows is not genuine you wont be able to download security updates which can leave your system open to hackers or viruses

Hope this helps

thanks

Tip

On screen warning saying I may be a victim of software counterfeiting

The message is prompted by Microsoft Windows WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) software.

To start I must advise you that the best thing to do is contacting Microsoft, and asking them as to proceed, as the system installed on your computer may be counterfeited.

See:How and when to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support

If you get the Microsoft Genuine software warning, that usually means that the installed system key is not recognized as valid. This often happens when the system is installed with a number that is not the one printed in the sticker.
In some case the WGA message was prompted in presence of genuine Windows installation because of a system bug.

c2cca98.jpeg

If you have a Windows version that is the same as the license number printed on the COA sticker, then the best thing to do is changing the number and then validating Windows again. See here:Genuine Microsoft Software.

If your installed software is a different version from the one you have a valid COA (eg. XP Home Edition on sticker vs. XP Professional installed), then you must install the Windows version for which you have the license or purchase the proper license for your system. Any unlicensed use of Microsoft software will be illegal.

In case you want temporarily need to remove the Genuine Microsoft Software warning before installing genuine software, you can follow the steps below.

Method 1 System Restore.

A system restore to a date before the warning started will stop the message.
The restore will set the the computer to the same state it was in the date before the warning message started.
The data will not be deleted, but all settings and software installed after restore date will be affected. Do a backup of your data before starting system restore.

See: How to perform System Restore on Windows XP

Method 2 Software utilities.

There are several utilities to remove the WGA logon message. Try the ones listed below.

RemoveWGA.exe,

Remove WGA 1.2.exe.

Method 3: Delete software and change registry values.

You can get rid of the message changing the registries below. Do a backup of Windows registry before starting. If you change te wrong registry entry, Windows may not start. If that happens, then you will have to get rid of the problem installing a genuine Windows.

Launch Task Manager.by pressing Ctrl Alt Del at the same time. Look for the process “WgaTray.exe” and stop it.
Start computer in Safe Mode and delete the file WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32
Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache
Type Regedit in Run box and open Registry Editor.
In Regedit find the entry called : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify key.
Delete the folder WgaLogon and all of its contents.
Restart the PC normally.

The methods to remove the WGA message are not a solution to the problem. The procedures illustrated will remove the warning, but the system will not be properly licensed. Arrange reinstall of the system according to Windows version listed in your COA , or purchase a valid Microsoft product.

Error message windows did not pass genuine windows validation you may be a victim of software counterfeiting

Who installed the Microsoft Operating System on your computer?
That person used a "non-genuine", i.e., "bootleg", version of Microsoft Windows.

If it was a computer-store, then contact 'piracy@microsoft.com' and report them for using "non-genuine" software.

Otherwise, click the link on the screen to start the process to purchase a genuine license to use the software.

Volume licenece key in my pc has been bloked i dont now what to do plz help me

> volume license key has been blocked

If you work for an organization that has licensed, in "bulk", copies of Microsoft Windows, then your I.T. department would have received a "volume" license-key, i.e., one license-key spanning _every_ licensed computer, not one unique license-key _per_ every computer. If so, contact your local I.T. department, and ask them why Microsoft is now "blocking" usage of computers that are using that "volume" license-key.

Or, if you are using a "bootleg" copy of Windows XP, i.e., somebody outside of the organization that licensed that "volume" license-key has ILLEGALLY used that license-key to install Windows on your computer, then you need to purchase license of a "genuine" copy of Windows XP.

See: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/

for details on how to "get genuine".

How do you uninstall Genuine Microsoft Software? Every time I turn on my computer a message comes up and says you're Genuine Microsoft Software has expired. And I am given 2 options Resolve now or to...

That message pops up when you're using either a pirated version of windows, or when your trial of the OS has expired. You'll just have to buy a fresh copy of Windows(vista/7), which includes "Windows genuine advantage validation.", which in it's turn is what you need to get rid of those pesky messages.

Hello

well for starters a VLK is ushally bought by small, medium, and enterprise businesses and organizations.

If you have this on your laptop then there is a issue going on if its not a work computer or like.

if you want to fully understand the VLK please click the below link.
https://licensing.microsoft.com/eLicense/L1033/Default.asp

Microsoft Genuine Advantage programs, including Windows Genuine Advantage, help you determine whether or not your copy of Windows is genuine. Genuine Windows software is published by Microsoft, properly licensed, and supported by Microsoft or an authorized partner, giving you full capabilities, access to all the latest updates, and confidence that you are getting the experience you expect. Microsoft continues to invest in education, engineering, and enforcement in order to more effectively combat software piracy. It’s part of Microsoft’s commitment to help protect its intellectual property and to help you avoid problems before they happen.

So by the sounds of it you do not have a Genuine Windows Version installed on your computer.

If this has been bought from a store please contact them to figure out why your VLK is no good.

Also If that does not work I know it sucks I had to do it a few months ago I had to **** it up and pay for a valid copy. almost 200 dollars but in the end everything worked right.

you can go here
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/Default.aspx?displaylang=en

and then dowload the GWA from that website as well.

I hope this helps you and you get it sorted out you can also contact their customer support for more concerns because thats about all that I can do on this matter.
