After resetting my Palm Tungsten E2 the unit starts all right until reaching the target tapping. I have tapped these targets more than a 100times t9o no avail. I also did the resetting soft and/or hard several times too, nothing. The unit appears to be stuck.

The Palm Tungsten E2 is not a phone but a pda.
I wanted to completely reset it and therefore used the reset button on the back.
It starts up initially alright but when reaching the targets for calibrating the screen - when the centers of the targets need to be tapped with the stylus - I can do the tapping over and over again. That was done more than a 100times.- I also did another reset - soft and hard - but no difference.

Thank you! This really is the solution tapping slightly below the center of the targets. It appears that all the other commands triggered by tapping a 'next' or 'done', etc. have the similar deficiency always requiring tapping below the box. - But I could live with it - unless there is a software for correcting the calibration.
    Thanks again.

Your Palm's targeting/calibration software is not responding well. To confirm this, try tapping slightly below the real point and see if you will get out of the loop. if that does work, then post back and i will recommend to you some software I'm sure will resolve your problem

Hi, when a phone gets stucked, it means that the phones memory is faulty or when an application you downloaded has virus.

What to do is this,

You will have to flash the phone to restore the memory of the phone.

I did a hard reset and I can't gt the device to go past the screen tap on the center of the target. I hit it dozens of times and it just keeps asking me to hit the center of the target

Disconnect Treo from charger, if connected.Remove the battery cover and then the battery.Press and hold the UP arrow button on the 5 way navigational key of the device.

While holding the UP arrow button, reinsert the battery. When the second screen named "Access Powered" appears, release the UP button. Then, the next screen will ask you to set the date and time. That finishes the process of Warm Reset.

My tungsten E2 will not go out of the "tap center of the target" mode. Can this be fixed ? Thanks for the help.

Hello, cleme_z. I would be happy to help! Unfortunately, I too have had this issue with a pda of mine (not the same brand as yours), and the reason why my pda did this (and probably why your tungsten is doing this) is because your touch screen is broken. You screen cannot recognize nor truly feel touches, so your pda is stuck in "tap center of target mode," waiting for a response from your touch screen. The best thing to do is to contact the manufacture and tell theme about this issue. They might even allow you to send them your pda and replace it for free if they discover that you might have a slightly defective screen. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please ask!

My e2 was locked up I pressed the power and reset at same time

I experienced similar problems with my E2, until I reset the battery. Let me know if you are uncertain how to reset (remove and reinsert) the battery. No soldering is needed.

Palm Tungsten E2 stuck on Tap the center of the target

The digitizer part is defective and needs to be replaced.

You can find digitizer parts in ebay or other on-line companies, at reasonable prices.

Regarding the labor cost, depending of the repair shop you choose, it may be cheap or expensive.

Also, if you have minimum experience and skills in fixing electronics, you can try it. really is not so difficult, and minimum set of tools are needed for it

Best regards,

My Palm Tungsten will not complete Screen alignment

sounds like the digitizer is out of alignment. there are places where you can send the device that will replace the screen, or send you parts for DIY projects. Depending on the age/condition of the device, it might be better to just buy a new or used device.

the program your looking for is called "digitizer" you'll need to tap the application called "prefs" in your main screen, then there will be a lot of choices one of them will be "digitizer" and you'll want to tap that option

    Stylus

    Go to "applications"

    Select "prefs"

    Select "touchscreen"

Tap the targets on the screen as precisely as possible, then select "done"

NOTE: you need to tap at least 3 targets - maybe more if you don't tap carefully.
