What does DTA mean on my tv/dvd 22" tv

DTA is a Digital Television Adapter (digital-to-analog converter box) It is a television tuner that receives a digital television transmission and converts the digital signal into an analog signal that can be received and displayed on a older analog tv.

We are using an antenna as an input signal instead of cable and we can't find where you adjust the input signal to antenna instead of cable to the display.

Hi,
Can you please provide further details of:
  • Cable provider
  • Make and Model of your TV you are connecting to.
  • Was the Cable connected to the antenna input, or was it connected to a decoder/set-top box.
Thanks
Isaac

I have tried re-tuning my mums tv but all I get now is no signal with a countdown from 5 minutes before it switches off. I have tried going back into menu then settings etc but I'm not getting this come...

It sounds like you are not getting a signal from your antenna connection. Check the cable & connector which goes into the back aerial connection of the TV. It will switch off after 5 minutes because it is not receiving a signal & if you are getting the menu box then the TV is working ok.

Brought a logic hd ready tv yesterday but can't

You will still need a HD box connected to the TV to send a Hi Def signal to the Televisions display, A la HD "ready" TV's. I know I had my 1st for over a year before ever seeing even 720 let alone 1080 ><.

The lights are on, but no one's home

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

Philips CCB130AT02 TV/VCR combo

Is this an Analog TV? Does it have a picture tube and not an LCD or plasma screen? Most likely this is a Analog TV.

If it is an Analog TV (and I would bet that it is), then no, it does not have a digital (QAM) tuner to pick up DTV broadcasts. The fact that it has a VCR also indicates that its an Analog TV.

If you are picking up your TV signals from an outside antenna and not cable, then yes, you will need a converter box to convert the new digital signals to Analog so that you can continue to use your TV set.

If you are using cable to receive your channels, the cable company already provides the conversion for you and your TV will continue to work as before.

The government is giving out coupons to help consumers defray the costs of purchaing a converter box. The following sites are good places to obtain more information.
