No,because the water fill switch would have sensed a no water or lack there of water and have not been able to close the contacts inside it to start a wash cycle

    what about opening the door?

  • danny Hendrickson Jul 15, 2010

opening the door will stop all spin and drain cycles, but the timer will still time down on all other cycles, but if no water can fill the tub it will lead to stopped timer because the water pressure through the hose from the tub to the fill control via air pressure of the water pushing air pressure into the water fill control presses on contacts and closes them to operate the timer,so if no water,no water pressure to force air into the fill control,no contact movement, leads to no timer power,so the timer cannot advance into the next cycle

After repairing the pipeline it's inevitable that some debris/stones/cement etc. would find it's way into your machine. Even though there is (or should be) a filter in the water input hose, I'd guess that the water pressure was so high that some debris damaged the electrically operated solenoid valve which controls the water input flow. A mechanical problem then, with possibly some associated electrical fault. If you can get the machine out, I suggest unscrewing the inlet hose and having a look at the valve - they're usually easy to get to. But please DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY AND WATER first.

Make sure both hot and cold water supplies are turned on. Select a cold wash cycle and start the wash cycle, do you get cold water? Now select a hot wash cycle and start the wash cycle, do you get hot water? If you only get cold water replace the hot water fill valve. If you only get hot water replace the cold water fill valve. If you get neither replace both fill valves.

Good day,
There is blockage between the outlet of the tub on the machine to the end of the hose.
First, if you have the outlet hose that is fitted into a standpipe, that could well be the problem.
In other words, there is nothing wrong with the washer, it is plumbing problem in the vertical drain pipe. Happens often.
Shut the water to the machine off, remove one of the hoses, and stick it into the stand pipe. Turn the water on. If it backs up, that is your problem.

If not, then the machine is at fault. A hose runs from the bottom outlet of the tub to the pump. Then from the pump to the outlet hose.
You'll need to remove the hoses, and pump to inspect them. It's even a possibility the pump's impeller is slipping, and lastly, check closely where the hose was removed from the bottom of the tube. Could be the classic "sock" problem.

You did not give the model. Get that information, and then type into google....................
"How to change a water pump on a ( your info) washer".
You'll get the hits you need to see how to access the pump and related accessories.

I just had the same problem. The washer would stop about 2/3 through the spin cycle and not start again. Replaced the timer. That did NOT solve the problem.

Wash cycle knob turns without controlling wash cycle

it's possible go to www.repairclinic.com and enter the numbers you have posted and it will show you what they are. I have the same problem. What I did was not pretty but it works for now. I broke a piece off of your part#387997 and simply turn my dial that way and then pull the center out to start the wash. Considering a new timer is close to $100+ and it works fine this way , well you know...
