Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

Water flow is extremely slow after filter change.

Hi, I have a GE Profile PSS26NSTESS Side-by side. I've had it for about 3 years. Everything was fine until my water filter light came on about 4 months ago. I bought a new filter, replaced it and now the water comes out in a slow dribble. It takes about 3-4 min to fill a glass. I thought it was the filter, returned it; got another one and still have the same problem. If I take the filter out and empty it. Then it actually works good for a couple of minutes. Please help!

Those filters are for refrigerators that have heavily treated water in the household. You could have a filter that filters your water supply and not use the filter inside the frig. Why use both? Now, if your home is not filtered, you may need it. Check to see if the water supply line is crimped somewhere or frozen when it gets inside the frig.

    Hi gil068

We have the very same problem with a GE Profile 2005 model side-by-side. All was cool until filter replacement about 6 months ago, then the exact thing you experienced. Did you find a fix? Please let us know if you can at tampaworth@msn.com. Thank you.

    Hi gil068

We have the very same problem with a 2005 model GE Profile counter depth side-by-side. Replaced the filter about 6 months ago and ever since, dribbling water or none at all. We replaced the filter like you with the same depressing results. Did you ever find a fix?? Please let us know and thank you.

We had this problem on our own fridge at home. it turned out the plastic lines which feed these appliances liable to fill up with lime and calcium which will restrict water flow. take a look at getting a new line.

something else to look at. is the tube getting kinked when you push the fridge into postion?

The common connection between the two starts at the water fill valve. I have found also that the filter (water) if clogged, will prevent water flow to both. Change the filter first, cheapest and eaisest.

Low water flow after changing the water filter in a gf profile re

Just a suggestion, you could try installing a filter on the water supply line to the fridge. A nice one should dramatically lessen the frequency of replacing the one in the fridge. As for your the pressure being low, look for a kink or pinch in the water supply line.

Low flow from water dispenser

hi, this can be because of the filter. when the water is flowing threw the filter, it is sent threw many channels inside the filter before it reaches the dispenser. this slows it down a bit. this is quite normal but, if it's slowed down to a dribble, i suspect a water valve malfunction or you may need to change the filter.

Hi there is a grommet you can replace.
#WR02X10678 it is about $7.00 It can help seal the plug sometimes. Ge does want you to buy the whole filter assembly it is number
#WR17X11618 $51.50 . You may also consider putting a new filter in. It seals better than the plug it is number
#gwf $42.95. I dont know why they dont sell a o-ring kit. I guess they just dont make much money on o-rings. I hope this will help you. Have a nice day.

Water coming from the dispenser is very slow

hello from fixya, most important is the supply shut off the water undo where conects to the refer.put inside a bucket/pot and turn on water you should have a great flow.if ok there you could move to filter but the water valve could have a mineral blockage and is harder to test.you would have to undo the out put side of the chilled water then hit the water cradle.etc.. on the ice maker.also a thought.if ice small and water slow.may be filter if had good house supply.hope that helps.God blessyou house, tom

No Water or Ice

It sounds like a control board problem. When you push in the paddle does the fan in the freezer slow down? If so you need the control board on the back.
