Hepa filter on dyson dc01

Hi

I've got a really old Dyson DC01, and have been told I really need to change the Hepa filter? Now I know about the 2 regular filters, but have no idea what this HEPA filter is, how to get to it, or anything. Can you help????!!!

Not sure about you model, but some of the dyson's have the hepa filter under the dirt container. Remove the container, there is a cover that comes off and the filter is under that cover.

Telios 1600

There are two main filter outlets on the Telios. One behind the dust bag inside the vacuum (white felt with a black carbon layer usually - or a HEPA paper cartridge that slides right in at the back, though the HEPA filter cuts the suction power considerably, so just get the carbon type with the white felt if you can). The main motor filter at the top is between the power pedal and cord rewind. This is usually a 7 layer microfilter, but you can use any filter such as universal cut to fit types or even a Dyson DC01 filter that has been cut to size.

My dc01 wand wont pick up

Hi Davina,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC01. If your machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be via the hose, there may be a blockage somewhere in the machine. The filters may also need to be washed or replaced.

To check for any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc01/dc01-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual1/clean-the-shroud
In normal use, the filters should be washed at least once every 3 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow the filters to dry completely somewhere warm for at least 12 hours before replacing them.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298. Our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week, and calls are free from UK landlines.

Best wishes,

Jack

Just purchased Dyson DC33. There is air blowing out between the top of the plastic cover of the Hepa filter and base of the dust collector bin. Is this normal or? I have made sure the Hepa cover is tight...

Hi there,

I can confirm that the air you've noticed blowing out of the cleaner is simply the HEPA-filtered exhaust air being expelled back into the room. It's a feature of the cleaner's design, and is nothing to be concerned about.

If you have any further questions about using or maintaining your Dyson cleaner, please get in touch with us directly - you can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). Does my Dyson Animal vacuum have a hepa filter?

The HEPA filter is not a cleanable item. The pre-motor filter is the washable one.

Remove hepa filter

Turn the Dyson on its back as if you were servicing the beater brush and on the RH side you'll see the filter housing for the HEPA and a T-15 Torx screw. Remove this screw and then remove the cover for the HEPA filter.

Changing the HEPA filter on a DC17 Animal

Just took my Dyson in and yes my HEPA needed changing. It's under the right wheel (as you're looking at the machine); you can see it through the "vents" above the wheel. The screw is on the bottom of machine.

You will probably need a Torx (star) 15 screwdriver -- that's what Dyson seems to use everywhere.
