Stopped cooling, temp readout = 86 and can't change.

The unit stopped cooling. The temperature gage displays 86, but it can't be changed downward. Is this an error code?

I have 2007 1.4 citi golf car over heats and i have changed the thermostat it stopped few weeks and same problem again. The temperature gage is always on normal. Will only see steam from bonnet.

Anon, If temp. gage is showing normal and you are seeing steam, chances are there is a leak in system or maybe something as simple as a bad rad cap. Take vehicle in to a good shop where they can pressure test cooling system and diagnose and give estimate for repair.

Digital temperature changes to 86 every time your set it to a lower temperature how do I fix this

If this set temp changes on its own then the circuit board has failed. Call a service tech or replace the unit. But this 86° might be the indoor temp, not the set temp? If I set my temp to 75°, then my temp goes to 86°, then the set temp (target temp) is 75° & actual room temp is 86°. The unit may not be working properly. Not sure if this helps.

In order to change your temperature display you need to hold the fresh food arrow up and then press the freezer up arrow 3 times within 5 seconds. I hope this information is helpful. -OOS

temp gauges work from a temperature sender unit which is different to a temperature sensor unit
you probably change the wrong sender.

Look at the pool water temperature readout. If this is a crazy figure say 60 to 120d deg C replace the thermistor line probe that senses water temp. its in the black water manifold.
