When cleaning buttons HOPEFULLY you did NOT use DeOxit or other contact cleaners like Blue Shower as these can damage the buttons that are conductive rubber.

The conductive rubber buttons should ONLY be cleaned with 99% isoprophyl alcohol and Q Tips. Both the conductive "pill" and the traces they contact on the circuit board should be gently cleaned with the Q Tip wetted with the alcohol.

If you used anything but the 99% isoprophyl alcohol, you can TRY cleaning properly and hopefully they will not have permanent damage.

Those keys come in an octave set. You have to remove one octave to either side also to free them.

Yamaha psr 550

When PSR550 keys stop working, or are intermittent, in any arrangement, this can be fixed (with work). There is probably TINY dust or debris which prevents a clean key contact from taking place; you must unscrew and open the PSR550 up like a ****, then unfasten the bottoms of the keyboard circuit boards. You can figure out how to move them without totally disconnecting them. You will observe how a tiny rubber-mounted contact presses against an interleaved circuit-board connection pattern to make contact when a keyboard key is pressed. Any dirt or crud on the contact area of the circuit board must be removed, because it will prevent the conductive contact from bridging the circuit cleanly and fully. I used 91% alcohol and QTips to clean all contact surfaces. It took me a couple of disassemble/assemble cycles to get all the keys clean and working, and the PSR550 back together. But first download the service manual: it will show you how to open it and access various components. You will see that the keyboard switches are much like calculator buttons on a TI-83 calculator. They are pretty well enclosed, but you will see how much dust can settle in just through various humidity conditions, especially if you take it to gigs. Good Luck.

I have a Yamaha PSR-S700. Recently, the touch sensitivity in one of the keys stopped working. Very little pressure applied would cause the note to sound as if the touch sensitivity was off completely. Now...

You MAY be confusing touch sensitivity with VELOCITY sensing. Touch sensitivity is PRESSURE put on AFTER the note sounds that causes modulation. VELOCITY is what is used for example to control the loudness of pianoo notes depending how fast they are struck. VELOCITY sensing is done by using TWO contacts at every key... one closes first. IF one of these gets dirty, FULL velocity will be sensed and it will be LOUD. The contacts can be cleaned using ONLY 99% isoprophyl alcohol and Qtips after MUCH disassembly of the keyboard. The contacts are conductive rubber pills in silicone rubber domes. Clean boththe contacts and the circuit traces they pres down onto.

Hi, i think you can. You can go to any of the Yamaha companies around you area and explain to them the problem of the keyboard. They will give you good and quality replacement part for your Keyboard.

Make sure you go to only Yamaha company to avoid getting a wrong part for your Keyboard.Avoid road siderepairsforissue like this,it's more complicated to handle

I guess that will do.

Thanks for using fixya...

Yamaha psr 400 give an Er 1 message when switched on and gives no sound when played. The demo works however

Wild guess of possibilities.

1. Internal backup battery exhausted.

2. Button OR key is stuck down, either mechanically or electrically.

I'm looking for a keyboard yamaha psr 2500 control panel strip

For downloading the manual:

http://www.manualnguide.com/dl/9197/

For Yamaha parts, go to the Yamaha America site and find repair parts.
Find it with Google.

Not sure what you mean by "strip" SOME of these are painted on and you can't just get a strip to glue on.

I would consider using the manual to create labels.

How do I take apart Yamaha PSR-280 keyboard to clean keys.

There are 17 screws on the underside of the keyboard that need to be removed. The base cover can then be removed. This gives access to the keyframe assembly which can be removed.
