Hi,

for you to be able to configure the modem to the router, you will need to set the modem to bridge mode first for you to be able to give way for the router, try to contact verizon and let them bridge the modem then right after that, thats the time you will configure the router

thanks and God Bless

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Did you try to reset the router ?

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router
is there any computer connected to the router ?
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
Router set up page is the page where you can check all the wireless settings of the router.

I have a wrt54g linksys wireless router that im trying to link up with my new laptop that is running windows 7. My start up disc that came with the router isnt formatted for my computer. what can i do?

You do not need a start up disk to make Windows 7 talk to this router. Just add a wireless network, and if you are broadcasting the SSID and remember your passphrase you are done.
Windows knows how to talk TCP/IP and Wi-fi without any disks - as long as it can support your ethernet or wi-fi adapter you are OK.
The start up disk for that router had documentation on it and some silly stuff, I've never bothered with it.

I can not get my Linksys WRT54G router to pair up with a new computer with Windows 7.

Linksys provides detailed steps for this issue. Please use link below for instructions for Windows 7:

http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5451

Please verify a MAC or IP Filter has not been enabled on Router. This will not allow any additional computers to connect to router.

Good luck

Wrt54g linksys problem

are you trying to set up the router for the first time ?
OR the router was working before and you are trying to add a new windows 7 computer to the network ?

If you are trying to set up the router for the first time then you can do it manually without the CD also.

If your router is already working and you want to add the computer to the network then you just need to connect to the network

Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router Issue Allows 1 Computer at a time

Your router my not be DCHP enabled or it might not be assigning the IP addresses either.

I would do a reset and start all over with your security settings and see if that works. Worst case scenario you could always turn security off when your parents or others are there.
