SOURCE: fuji j10 - my mac wont recognise it even using finepix

I had the same problem with my camera & mac.  I got this off the Fuji site and it worked for me:
If images cannot be downloaded from the camera to a Macintosh, check the status of the camera and the Macintosh and resolve the problem accordingly.

1) Check the status of the camera and Macintosh.
1. Connect your camera to the Macintosh and turn the camera on.
2. Open the "Applications" folder on the Macintosh HD.
3. Double-click "Image Capture".
* If the "Imaging device not connected" message appears, follow the steps described in [Checking the connection between the camera and PC].
4. Select "Preferences" from the "Image Capture" menu.
5. The procedure for using the Image Capture Preferences window differs depending on the OS version used. Use the correct procedure for your version of Mac OS.
- Mac OS 10.4: Click "General" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.3: Click "Camera" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.2: Simply proceed to the next step.
6. In "Items launched at camera connection", select "FPVBridge" and then click the [OK] button.
* If FPVBridge is not among the displayed items, follow the steps in [Displaying FPVBridge] below.
7. Quit "Image Capture".

If you implement the above procedure up to step 6, FinePix Viewer launches automatically.
* To stop FinePix Viewer from launching automatically, follow the steps in [FinePix Viewer Setup] below.

In order to download photos to your PC or laptop, you have to install the drivers for your camera. Please follow these steps.

1- Use the CD which came with your camera and install the drivers. If you do not have your CD, go to fuji website and download it.

http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/01/index.html

2- After installing the drivers, connect your camera to your computer and on the dial select play and turn the camera on.

3- If the drivers are installed correctely, when you click start, computer you would see an icon with all or part of Fuji FinePix J10 Digital. Double click on this icon. You would see one or more folders which contain the stored pictures or videos. Now you are able to download, copy delete the stored pictures in your camera.

Nope. Gotta use the supplied external charger. Won't charge via USB, if that's what you are hoping.

Instead of using the cord to upload pictures from camera to computer, is there a device similar to a flash drive that I can use to upload pictures to the computer from my Fuji FinePix J10 Digital Camera?

Hi,

You can download pictures from your camera to your computer by using a memory card reader (You can use your computer's built-in memory card reader, if it has one, or you can purchase an external memory card reader as shown in the attached image).
6b262ef.jpg
To do this, kindly remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into a card reader. Connect the card reader to the USB port of your PC (if you are using an external card reader).
Now, the memory card will be shown as a "Removable disk" in "My Computer". You can browse the images and copy the images to your computer.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.

Can i charge a finepix J10 off my laptop?

Most cameras will not charge off the usb port. Some very small "spy" type cams will. You can try, either it will charge, or it won't. Most cameras use their own power when hooked to the usb port, for the purpose of transferring pictures and movies to the computer.

Mine is out of battery and it hasnt come with a charger, just a usb cable and i have left it in with the usb all night hoping it will charge but it hasnt? does anyone know how to charge it?!

According to the manual, your camera should have come with a battery charger, model BP-45A. Sorry, but there is no throw-away battery available for the camera, so you will need to contact the seller, a Fuji distributor, or fuji.com to obtain the charger.

Need the manual? You can download/print it here:
