There isn't one, since there's an infinite number of negative odd numbers. The smallest positive odd number is 1.

The hardest part of a word problem is translating it into the equation or equations you need. This one needs just one equation.

Let N = the smallest number. Since they are consecutive, the next ones will be N+2 and N+4. (It doesn't matter that they are odd, just that each one is 2 greater than the one before.)

So, N = the smallest number and N+4 = the largest. Translate the problem (3 times the smallest, N, decreased by 7, equals twice the largest, N+4) into numbers:

3N - 7 = 2 (N+4)

Then it's simple to find N:

3N - 7 = 2N +8

3N - 2N = 8 + 7

N = 15

The three numbers then are 15, 17, 19. Check the answer by seeing if they fit the original problem. 3 X 15 = 45, 45 - 7 = 38, 2 X 19 = 38, so we got the right values.

Let x be the smallest integer, then x+2 is the middle and x+4 the largest one. Resolve the equation

x + 2 * ( x + 4 ) = 5 * ( x + 2 ) - 24
=> x = 11

The three numbers are therefore 11, 13, and 15. The fact they are odd is irrelevant for finding the answer.

Several ways to do this. 1, 5, 13, 15 17 is one of them.

(1 x 5) + 13 + 15 + 17

Workings:

(1 x 5) = 5

5 + 13 + 15 + 17 = 50.

- You cannot add five odd numbers together to make 50. Five odd numbers added together will always be an odd number.
- You cannot add four odd and take an odd number away as this will also total an odd number.

Therefore 2 of the numbers must be multiplied as this enables you to effectively add four odd numbers together to total an even number.

It can't be done, Nine is an odd number. An odd number of groups, each with an odd number of people, totals an odd number of people. Forty is an even number, so at least one group must have an even number of people.

Usb wont fit


my computer is an HP Pavilion slimline s33001 The cam is Labtec i cant remember the # but of the four its the smallest slimmest dark one.It wont fit in either computer we own.the usb
is so odd yet our older Labtec cam is fine on both pcs.
