Ok, you want to listen to see if the unit is running. If it is, the fan down by the compressor at the rear of the fridge should also be running. If fro some reason it is not running, you need to make a temporary fix as soon as possible. What you will want to do is to get a small window or box fan to put behind the fridge to make sure that you are able to keep the coils underneath cool.
Check the fan, make sure there is no debris caught in it. See if you spin it by hand if it starts up (don't trust it to stay running).
Make sure all the coils are clean if the fan is in fact running. Heat by the door is usually indicative of restricted air flow across the condenser coils. You will want to remove you front kick plate as well and see if you can vacuum it front the front also.
Reply back with your brand and model number and I will try to offer you some more insight.

I saw one of your other posts for this unit stating it is a hotpoint side by side about three years old. This unit only has the coils located in the rear behind the cover in a "jelly roll" the fan should be mounted on the left side of the roll. Be sure the coils are nice and clean and that the fan is running.

Take a good look at the fan and see that it is operating at a decent speed. It wont be loud, but should move some air around pretty good. You can test the force of the fan by seeing if the suction it creates will hold a sheet of paper to the outside of the coils.
If the fan does not appear to be running on this model or running fast enough, replace the main board located on the back of the fridge in a small square recess with a cover over it.

Make sure the location of this fridge is within specs also. If it fits into an opening, make sure there is at least an inch of space behind it and an inch above it to breath properly.

Replace your board, part number WR55X10942 it should not cost you much more than 140$. You can also call ge and see if they will help you out as the fridge is not that old.

Sometimes water doesn't get hot.

Clean the air filter even if it looks clean. The air filter is located in the front panel(unscrew knob to open door)...filter looked ok to me but cleaned it under water and that fixed the problem. Note: I cleaned the water filter first and that did not solve the problem. A simple test to see if the air filter is the problem...take the panel door off, press the filter door button and test hot water usage.

Overheating, seals on Roper side by side are hot to the touch

Hi, When that strip gets hot, it is a sign the temperatures are not cold enough. Put a thermomitor in the freezer. You should get a reading of 0 to 5 above. If not, let me know and we can try and get you through this.

Kitchenaid KGSA906PSS00

I recently encountered this issue after trying "self clean" on my KitchenAid oven for the first time. I wish I had read these forums and simply avoided the feature. KitchenAid was, of course, completely unhelpful since my warranty was expired. This is the first they've heard of the problem; perhaps search engines are prohibited within the KitchenAid community and they are unable to view the complaints of thousands of other customers as I have... but I digress.

The solution was straight forward: Don't worry about the locked door for now and pull the oven away from the wall. Safety first: unplug your oven and turn off your gas valve. Now remove the back panel. There is a sheet metal strip near the top of the oven that must be removed before the back panel comes loose. With the back panel removed, look for a circular device with a blue and white sticker on it and the part number: 8300802. This is a thermal fuse that blows when the oven gets too hot (apparently "too hot" is a subjective measure as normal operation during self clean will cause this issue). You can check it with a multimeter if you have one... a failed fuse will have a high resistance. To ensure this is your only issue and to immediately unlock your door, adventurous types can bypass the fuse by connecting the two wires that connect to the fuse and hold them together with some electrical tape. WARNING: never operate your oven in this manner. This is a quick test to verify resolution of the issue; not a permanent fix. Apply power to your oven and presto, your door will unlock and your front panel will illuminate.

Now, use the aforementioned search engine KitchenAid has never heard of and search for your new fuse: 8300802. I got mine for $34... you can probably find it for cheaper but my patience was wearing thin by the time I got to ordering a replacement part.

Oh, and one last step: never ever under any circumstances use the self clean feature. Do not take the easy route like I did: get your Brillo Pad and your Easy-Off and get dirty, you lazy bum.

Frigidaire side by side refridge

pull the kick plate off under the doors. if you look in behind the kick plate youll see alot of dust build up. this area needs to be cleaned once a year to keep air flowing properly over the condenser coils. if the dust build up is minimal then remove back panel of refrigerator and make sure the fan is running behind the refrigerator. if not, or if running real slow replace the fan motor. the heat is the because the condenser is getting too hot. it needs to be fix or the compressor life will be greatly shortend
