Question about RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000 Smartphone
Your rear speaker is broken.
actually the pins that attach the back of the speaker have been squashed down and now are instead flush with the connector instead of touching it.
it is what we call classic Chip Creep.
it is caused by putting pressure on the back of the speaker, and you will notice if you press in on the speaker hole, while holding the same place at the back of the phone , the sound will come back to normal volume.
some have suggested wedging a piece of paper in the gap between, but it isn't guarenteed.
so to fix it, you have to actually take off the back of the phone,
unscrew the 4 screws holding the front face plate to the main chassis of the phone,
and carefully pull it apart.
you will see the speaker near the top of the phone, it just sits there, with two copper pins sticking out of it, and it should sit against the female side of the connector.
you can unbend the pins so they sit in a L shape now, and reattach it back in.
and to alleviate the pressure, you can insert a piece of paper, card, plastic from an ID card etc, behind the battery which makes a bit of gap.
I hope this helps. i managed to get it working better without the paper insert, just by resetting the pins on the speaker itself.
