How change from wired to wireless

The router has to have wireless capability. Some do not. And if by wireless you mean wireless from the router to the modem that is connected to the Internet, no such luck. That connection must be wired. If your router has wireless capability, you need only to open the browser window to access the router (usually 192.168.1.1), login in to the router as the admin, and go thru the wireless setup. You'll need to create an SSID (name) for your wireless network, select a security encryption type (default is recommended in most cases), and enter the security key/password you want to use to connect. Once you save the setup and reboot the router, you can then start connecting your wireless devices to the wireless network.

How to connect to wireless internet

First, read about connections here:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r5536767-internet_connection_basics

Once your wireless router is connected and the wireless mode enabled, your computer that is wireless-enabled will see the wireless connection. You can select it and then click "connect."
This assumes several things:
1) you have a wireless router and it's set up correctly
2) you have a computer that is capable of connecting wirelessly
3) your wireless adapter is turned on (there is usually a switch or a Fn-special function key combo that can turn you wireless adapter on and off
4) you know the password to get into the wireless connection.

What is the network equivalant key and where can I find it?

The network equivalent key is a terminology used by Apple and its router type called Airport Extreme to identify the WiFi security password in a different way.

The D-Link DI-604 is a router without wireless (WiFi) capability and therefore there is not security key at all.

Please let me know if you need more details

Best regards

The MAC network card needs configuring with the router's security settings ie. SSID and encryption code etc, otherwise it cannot connect to the router wirelessly.

Just purchased iMac with Snow Leopard OS. Apple tech spt states WEP broadcasts incompatible with OS. Need to update router to WPA or WPA-2. How do I do this with DI-614+

Basically ypu will need to change the wireless settings of the router.
To change the wireless settings you will need to access the router set up page.
Is there any computer connected to the router? If not then you will need to connect one computer to the router with the cable. Open the set up page of the router and change the wireless settings of the router. When you change the wireless security settings, change the wireless network name also ( SSID ). Once you change the SSID and the security on the router, you will need to connect to the wireless network on all the wireless devices with the new network name and security

Do i need a main computer hooked up before i can go wireless on another computer

No you don't need to.....if you have the wireless router and set to broadcast its name (SSID) and no security settings turned on you can easily find your router with your Wireless capable laptop and automatically sign in....nowadays having without security is like leaving your door open to anybody who can get in your house ....yikes!!!

Connection of D-Link 02.11g/2.4GHz Wireless Router

Connection can either be wired, or wireless.

If wired, connect a cable from one of the ports of the new PC to one of the ports on the back of the router.

If wireless, you will need a wireless card for the new PC. Install the card, set up security, and you will be connected.

Need help dynex security sync wireless

according to the manual that i have, the model if the router that you have, DX-E401, is just a broadband router and doesn't have wireless capability. if that would be the correct model of your device, there's no way that you can enable the wireless encryption since it doesn't have wireless capability. but if you are really using a wireless dynex router, follow the steps below on how to access the router's page and enable the security.

access the router's setup page by typing http://192.168.0.1 on the address bar of your web browser (i.e. internet explorer, firefox etc). by default the username is admin, then leave the password blank.
you will be prompted with the router's page, now go to the wireless settings and look for the encryption field and enbale wpa from there.

if you are not sure whether your router has wireless capability or if you are using another wireless router just give me the exact model and brand then ask me

ciao!
