FN+F3 should increase the brightness and FN+F4 should decrease the brightness (or the other way around). Failure in that, you should try doing this through your operating system or through the BIOS

Press and hold the "Fn," or function, key on your EEE PC-1000's keyboard.
Press "F3" while holding "Fn" to lower the brightness on your monitor.
The brightness on your computer decreases each time "F3" is pressed.
Press "F4" while holding "Fn" to increase the brightness on your monitor.
Each time "F4" is pressed, the brightness increases.
Press "F8" while holding "Fn" to decrease the volume from your EEE PC's speakers.
Each time "F8" is pressed, the volume decreases.
Press "F9" while holding "Fn" to increase the volume from your EEE PC's speakers.
Each time "F9" is pressed, the volume increases.
Press the "Ins" key while holding "Fn" to take a screen shot, or make a copy of what is currently on the computer screen.
